otherwise i enjoy the history and knowing the king open policy is legendary i wish Ethiopians keep this tradition and give Dr. Abiy 5 billion dollar to give way as he see it fit.. for example ...ኤልያስ አመልጋን ዋስ ሆኖ ማስፈታት ከፈለገ ከዚህ ገንዘብ ይውስድና ደግነቱን ያሳያል ። ለምሳሌ አንድ እናት ልጆ ታሞ ከመጣች ሊያሳክምላት ይችላል ። በሳምንት እንዴ ችሎት ተቀምጦ መዳኘት ቢችል ምንኛ ደስ ባለኝ ነበር። ባህላችን ሁሉ መጥፎ አይደለም አንዳንዱን መጠበቅ አለብን። ፍጣን ፍርድ የሚስጥበት ችሎት ማለት ሕዝብንም ያስደስት ነበር።

The contribution of the Guraghe people in building Ethiopia and defending it from enemies is immeasurable. This industrious and brave people are very notable in taking Ethiopia forward in may fields such as Sport, commerce, Military, music and many cultural developments.
Emperor Hailesillasie, Habtegiorgis Dinegde, Balcha Safo, Desta Damtew etc are the icons of Guraghe to mention a few among many.

Guraghe contibuted Kitfo and Qocho to the Ethiopian cuisine which are now among the best food choices for so many. Despite their positive contribution to the Ethiopian state, they have been marginalized by the TPLF administration and their population size cut to only a couple of millions. "According to the 1994 Ethiopian census, self-identifying Gurage comprise about 20% of Ethiopia's population, or about 20 million people.[10] The populations of Gurage people are not exactly known because approximately half of the population live outside of the Gurage zone and many believe that the Gurage people may have the third largest populations, next to the Oromo's and the Amhara's."

You observation is correct. Gurages need to write their story, their history, social history, economic history and about their culture. To a large extent the blame goes to our elders and intellectuals. My thinking is that after Derg's nationalization (expropriation) of what Gurages had created for the previous 75 years (1900-1975) and the loss of many young people during the Red terror, there might have set in a certain level of disruption in all areas of their lives. I have no doubt though that many of the larger historical events will be documented going further. As you well know too, Gurage intentionally stayed away form the tribal upsurge of the last 50 years that has also contributed to the state of neglect.

Horus brag about Gurage is never ending.
Geremew Demboba was never a rich guy. We are from the place in Addis Ababa, MedhaneAlem high school area. We all know that he has been broke for long time. I personally went to school with his kid, Frezer Geremew, and he might be a few years my senior at AddisAba elementary.
Therefore, don't brag about his wealth.
One thing is for sure though. He did not get the recognition that he deserved. He was also a good guy if you happen to know him personally.

እኔ ገረመው ድታ ነው አላልኩም፣ ረሃብተኛ አይደለም ነው ያልኩት ። ለምን ካላክ በደርግ ከመቀማቱ በፊት እሱ ፎቶ ቤትና ብዙ 15 እስከ 20 የሚሆኑ የኪራይ ብስክሌቶች ነበሩት ቦታ ልክ ካዲስ አበባ ሆቴል ፊት ለፊት ሃብተ ጊዮርጊስ ድልድይ ላይ ነበር ። ያ የሆነው የዛሬ 35 አመት ነው ። ከዚያ በኋላ ደሞ መሪቱን መለስ ወስዶበታል። ይህም ሆኖ እንደ ሌሎች መንገድ የወደቀ ሰው አይደልም ። አንተ ግ ን ይህን ተቀበል ። ጉራጌ ጉራ አይወድም እንጂ ብዙ ብዙ ጉራ የሚያስነዛ ስራ የሰሩ አባቶች ናቸው ያሉን። ሰብኛ ማለቅ ዬሁን !!
