No to Ethnic Federalim, yes to Civic Federalism

Post by EthioRedSea » 28 Sep 2019, 04:07

The Oromo should swallow the bitter pill. Ethnic Federalism might seem disadvantagous to Oromo tribe as the current territory will change . But there are secessionist tendencies if we continue to use Ethnic Federalim.

For example, Tigray Regional State ha more power than the Federal Government now practically. Tigray Regional State seems to be independent of Addis Ababa Government. And the call for referendum of the Sidama people, is another sign that the people are misunderstanding Ethnic Federalism. The Sidama activist think they are going to have their own country after the referendum.Regions like Somali are ready to secede to join somalia.

We need to apply Civic Federalism, where mixed tribes live together and use the language of the majority tribe or one of the federal languages to communicate.

Civic Federalism is important for development and to reach the people at village level. It helps fight corruption. It stops competition based on Ethnic background. Unitary ste administration is simply not effective for a population like Ethiopia's. If central government is not good, then the federal regions or provinces could suffer. The regional states could act as control to the federal government's poor policies.

why not the Amhara implement what they r preaching first.. who stopped u go head make Amhara region back to Gonder, Gojjam and Wollo and call it civic Federalism .. otherwise no Amhara have no business how oromo run their business.. if they choice ethnic or civic .. by the way no ethnic fed. region are pure they have minority .. only Somalia are almost 100% pure one ethnic the other are mix ethnic region .. the only thing is they use the Marjory language just like u said it.. and i dont see any difference calling it civic or ethnic ... if it make u happier call your own region what ever name you want but dont send us to war to convert the oromo in to your mold...
