I am not sure about the difference between the status of anational language of a country, scientifically speaking, and an offical working language but I thought to have heard that Amharic is an official working language in the country. Perhaps offical working language and national language are not one and the same. Granted, be it both ways, there are a significan chunk of the population of the country that were not well served by the sole use of Amharic, be it national language or official language. So, there is nothing wrong for those who were disadvantaged in their own country, for which they greately contributed to its progress and perseverance, to demand that they be given the opportunity to use their own language.

EZEMA or any other political party could have come closer to the Oromo people if it decided to speak to them in the language that they understand well. In refusing to do so, it might have undone itself by its own making, no worry about the Oromo people, they are a powerful king maker in the country by the mere virtue of their numerical size (granted democratic principles are the way forward from here).

You asking about the people serving the institutions in the country, instead of the instituions serving the people, well go for it!
