An amazing evening at the new ERITREAN CULTURAL & CIVIC CENTER in the DMV. Some highlights from last night’s gala as well as the new bar/restaurant known as 91 for our independence year as well Massawa hall named after the pearl of the Red Sea. Had to celebrate with a bottle of Asmara Beer!

Will always love 6 & L’s location but this is a time for transition to a bigger place. To all of you thank you and what a proud moment.
Our future generations will have a nice place to grow up in. All of you the “hafash” tell your stories of last night and the also from years before to our young so they can appreciate how this great “statue” of a community center came about. Gabe Mihreteab even though low profile! Thank you for leaving a great legacy. To all who worked hard on this tough task! Thank you!

Awet n hafash and zelalemawi zikri swatna! They would be rolling from their graves if they knew their great accomplishment. To the many great community members we lost who were a part and parcel of our community may your souls Rest In Peace.
“Shet meanta” .......

Eritrea, in the presence of excellencies Minister Fozia Hashim & Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam the long awaited Eritrean community center was opened to the public tonight. The ECCC was Established by Eritrean community before independence. It was a seed of Eritrean community established at a difficult time during the struggle. Today it was reborn at a time when Eritrea has achieved another victory by defeating avowed enemies. The energy and the love was indescribable. It felt like 1991 all over again. Kudos to Eritrean community DC for their brilliance & gratitude to all those who came from Canada and all over the US to help us open this grand monument of Eritrea.

But, this is how the Agame junta make their $$$. You see, if they develope the fishing industry, the Eritrean people will become beneficiaries. That's not what the Agame junta wants. The Agame junt is all about making money for themselves without having the Eritrean people benefit from it. The so cold cultural center geberates dollar without having the Eritrean people gaining any benefit. Only the gullible shabo idiots get to be entertained paying US dollars that go straight to the coffers of the Agame junta.

hahhahaha now Awash, they call u anti Eritrea. let assume ten workers work in that culture center and get paid 40,000 dollar per head already half million wasted .. now u have pay rent or pay mortgage how much would that be let say even 10,000 dollar per year that would be 120,000 dollar .. now maintenance insurance, electricity and so on another 120,000 dollar all this is without corruption, if not few of them will hire then own wife and family... all the center business will be done with corruption that might cost the center in total one million dollar at least even with corruption kept at minimum... now tell me this kind of money what kind of business one could have started in Eritrea ...

here is few of my favorite business that one can start in Eritrea

for sure this can done as u said if their heart is with Eritrean people ... this people have no heart to dance while their people are dying at red sea. even there is no one person to stand up and say no! enough .

Don't you get it? The Agame junta could care less about benefiting the Eritrean people. They want to keep the people busy scrounging for crumbs and not able to look at what else is going on to the country and people. They don't want a kind of development that lifts the people's standard of living. The minerals extracted using slave labor are sold and the money goes to the Agame junta 's bank accounts in China, india, Arabia etc. etc..
Meanwhile, the UNHCR feeds 10% of the population in refugee camps around.
As for the community center, there are slaves here volunteering to do the work for free thinking they'll get favorable treatment back home. Heck, you've got idiot diaspora paying taxes to the Agame junta.
