Ashenda is typical Tigrayan girls festival. We want Ashenda Festival to be hold only in Tigray. Those Tigrayans wanting to take part in the Ashenda Festival can go to Tigray.
Tourists would be able to come to Tigray to take part in the Ashenda Festival, which means more for the economy in Tigray. Ashenda is part of the Aksumite Culture and is special festival for youn girls between the age of 8 and 20 or unamried women. Mother should not take part in Ashenda unless it is needed to lead the young girls. The Ashenda Festival should be used to make young girls happy and the scene should be given to them.
Holding concerts on Ashenda Day should be allowed on the eve of the Ashenda. The three days should be given to the girls to enjoy Ashenda in the streets and villages of Tigray. This way the young girls enjy Ashenda Festival.

Re: The people of Tigray should observe Ashenda in Tigray, not Addis Ababa?
Ashenda or Ayeni Wari in Aksum has been around 3500 years. I think the kings and nobles used to choose their wifes from Ashenda girls. Before that it was part of the holy places, where virgin girls are seen as special clean and are protected by the society. After Christianity, the Church used Ashenda to praise the assumption of St Marry to Heaven. They call it "Maria" in Agam!e District.
All in all it is a beautiful culture well organised in Tigray. We should promote the culture the benefit of to our young girls who make the transition to be a woman with responsibility in family or political life. It is a way of going through pahses of adulthood. We need to organise it in a better way and show love and respect for our girls as they are very important for the continuation of culture and civilisation.
