Has Ethiopia opnened The Mekelle International Airport?

The Mekelle International Airport is not taking direct flights from Paris, Frankfurt or London. One has to transit or make a lay over at Addis Ababa International Airport which is more expensive and a wast of time. This has been the case for many foreigners who want to travel to Tigray Regional State or Province for business or pleasure.
We should force the government in Addis Ababa to open a direct international flight to Mekelle from London, Paris, Frankfurt, Peking or Washington. We can to the UN to help the opening of a direct international flight to Tigray Regional State. The Addis Ababa government seems to intentionally not want to open an international flight to Mekelle, even though the International Airport is known to be oen about 15 years now.
Tigray could have had incomes now during the Ashenda Festival, which is unique to Tigray and people would want to come to Tigray to take part of The Ashenda Festival. We need to have a direct international flight service to Mekelle from the major cities of the world. This is about money, nothing else. We want Tigray to directly benefit from international flights.

as economy expert i already answer this question..
you dont need any new deal all u need is twice a week lay over to Mekelle from Paris, Frankfurt and London this will solve all the problem depending the market this will lead to fill blown international connection as of now only lay over will do..
what The Mekelle International Airport needed is not fight to Paris or Frankfurt but the Arab country ..anyhow one hours travel distance could be cover by smaller airlines would be much profitable for mekelle international flight to start with.. if u want to fly from Mekelle to Saudi why would u go to Addis Ababa to go back and pass Mekelle to fly to Saudi it doesnt make sense so the market is wide open... this flight also serve Africa who travel to Saudi can use Mekelle as lay over instead of going to Addis Ababa ..

The question remains why Ethiopian Airlines is not flying through Mekelle Internationa airport? Why The Ethiopian government under EPRDF was not able to see this simple fact? Why did not Mengistu and Haile Selssie use this optimal location to facillitate international flights to Midle Eastern countries or Rusai, Finland and Eastern Europe (Poland, Urkriane, Russia) as flying from Mekelle Air Port is less expensive and brings more profit?
The curent government in palce should force the airline company to facillitate international flights from Mekelle Airport. It is really an exploitaiton of por Ethiopians who have to pay more and spend more time to make to Middle East or Europe. Specially our ethiopains siters living in Middle East are being exploited as they have to fly to addis Ababa to go to northern part of Ethiopia.
Ethiopian Airlines is expanding in China and West/ Southern Africa (Zambia, Siraleon, Nigeria). And yet there is not an international flight to Mekele City which is the best location for flights to Europe and Asia. This is NOT acceptable and we should drag the management of Ethiopian Court to court for purposely disadvantaging a population and squandering the national resources by investing in wrong sites like in Addis Ababa. The Mekelle International Airport should be expanded to meet the demands of international air transport. Mekelle is closer to China and India. Expanding Addis Ababa Airport would cost Ethiopians more and is wasting the country's resources.

For those from South Ethiopia, they can use Hawassa International Airport or Diredawa International Airport or Jijiga International Airport. We should not fly to Addis Ababa first to fly to London or another city.
The government in addis baba is a self-serving group. They pay lip service to developments outside Addis Ababa. By exapandng international flights, Ethiopia as a country benefits and Addis ababa airport looses to another airport in Ethiopia be it Mkelle or Jijiga or Hawassa or Bahir Dar. The goverment in Addis Ababa should be forced to give equal opportunities to all ethiopian cities in terms of investment and development.
Direct Internationa flights to other cities like Mekelle are important to attract investors as people can travel directly without wasting time in transit or lay over or in hotels in Addis Ababa.

The question remains why Ethiopian Airlines is not flying through Mekelle Internationa airport?
This is the problem with us Ethiopians, i just reply to u and u crying as if Dr. abiy going to listen to . .no body there me and u are here alone .. u want to discus make it with me. not with some king of unseen entity
i already answer all of your question u were not even thinking about flying to Saudi until i point it out to u... what do u mean opeing up international airport .. r u suggestion moving the all airport to Golden city or u want step by step progress.. forget about king haile and our dear father time .. they did not develop other city because they were afraid of independent movement everything is concentrated in addis so every region dependent on center in case if they break away they will not take anything with them... even coffee r not exported from jamma directly it as to come to addis ababa before exported ..
my point is this u want international airport start small how u start small buy Bombardier Q400 Aircraft and start serving one hour flight at first .. second once a week or twice a week EAL WILL LAND at Golden city this way u dont need to start with Boeing 787 Dreamliner u can start with Q400 ...in fact Q400 are much profitable then flying Boeing 787 Dreamliner try it u going to love..
asking Ethiopian airlines to land their Boeing 787 Dreamliner in their way to London and Norther part of Europe can be done tomorrow;;; u can also serve the Eritrean who was to fly to Assmara they can transit in Golden city instead of going to Addis Ababa as i said if this market develop then u can have full operation ... but if u want to start international flight tomorrow how in hell that is going to work r u going to buy Boeing 787 Dreamliner... even ordering Boeing 787 Dreamliner take years and years u dont pick them up from show room... but lay over can be done fast the same way Eritrean flight started then dont even need to buy plane the fight started and start serving them now u should know what u r asking..
those from Southern Ethiopia also doesnt need international fight to go to london.. they can use Addis Ababa .. what they need international fight is if they would have fly to India or China then they dont have to fly to Addis they just go from the Southern part to China ... agan all this could be answer by lay over in Jijiga or Hawassa
the Bahir Dar case also different for example not many people fly from london to Bahir Dar. but there may be many people flying to Gondor from Israel so when Ethiopian airlines fly to Israel they will make stop over in Bahir Dar before flying to Isreal...u must be very selective when u start stop over because if u stop over in Bahir Dar to fly to Germany u might not pick up no passenger so what is the point of stopping over in Bahir Dar...
bye have a nice life..
let alone stop over in different city in Ethiopia i even support all over Africa we have to make stop over in 4 strategic location ..
for example Ethiopia have flight from Toronto Canada and Dc.. while fly direct the whole week if Ethiopian airlines is smart they will do one stop over in Nigeria capital city Abuja before flying to Addis Ababa now tell me this is not profitable .. once EAL STOP OVER IN Nigeria if can fly back to TORONTO AND dC With customers without going to Addis Ababa because there is already another flight going to Addis Ababa .. or stop flight that go to Nigeria that day and the fight coming from Toronto will take care of the Nigerian passenger this way u saved one plane to serve other route
this idea is Scalable only limited by your imagination ..
Idea river // idea factory..

This has been discussed in another thread.
Mekelle has the best location for air travel to Europe and Asia.
We ask Ethiopian Airlines to fly to Mekelle International Airport from major capital cities in the world.
Parallel to this a private airline is being organised.

if tha the case what would have the TPLF GOVERNMENT doing for the last 27 years colonizing Ethiopia . now u want international airlines u must be smart then i thought.. in what ground .. Golden region is one leg in Ethiopia and one leg in independent movement and u want EAL to reward u with international fight..
show me the date.. how many Eritrean and Tigray fly from london to Addis Ababa back to Mekelle .. let the number support u..
vs
how many people fly from America back to Gondor and Gojjam let see the number first and see which city need international airport first ..
u want EAL to fly to Mekelle from major capital cities in the world is that not answered by stopover that i suggested already u can do that tomorrow

I will need donkey years to make you understand what the point is. We are talking about a suitable location for air transport in Ethiopia. Mekelle the most suitable site for international air transport.
If some body wants to fly to London from Gonder, then they can fly from Mekelle as Mekelle much closer to London than Addis Ababa. If we are thinking of Ethnic Groups, then Mekelle is not suitable as we have a smaller size in population. But all Ethiopians who live in Gondar, Bahir Dar, Debre Markos, Debre Tabor, Nekmpte etc will be served by mekelle International Airport. Thus the number of passsengers is enormous.
Tgrayans are Ethiopians and are not goig to secede from Ethiopia. There could some individuals wnating to secede from Ethiopia. But the majority of Tigrayans would want to be part of Ethiopia forever as they are the founders of Ethiopia. Tigray is Ethiopia itself.

what did i said i said let us start with stop over we already have flight from london to Addis Ababa so what we can do is stop over to Mekelle..
so those who want to fly to london from Gondar, Bahir Dar, Debre Markos, Debre Tabor, Nekmpte (this one i dont know ) but my point is this can be achieved tomorrow by stop over this stop over even serve Assmara instead of they go to Addis Ababa they can go to golden city and fly.. this can be done next month with no adjustment at all without paying any additional plane ,,,,
did u get me i support stop over let alone in golden city even i support in Assmara city.. once a week deal. so that the Assmara traveler doesnt have to go to Addis ababa only to go back again to north.. in fact i also support one stop over in Egypt city in Western Africa thru out Africa the best location should be located to make EAL VERY COST EFFECTIVE For example we cant compete with air emirates but we can compete with them if u research our location without emotion pure business...
if u want service only this is how u can start ...if u want independent airline that is totally owned and operated by golden then u have to buy your own plane .. if u want to adjust EAL fight route then u dont have to buy anything only stop over will serve u.. at first then it can grow with market ..this is only for Long Range Passenger Services , stop over will do but for Regional and Domestic Passenger Services u can start with Q400 and fly international with in one hours distance in fact everyone can start this business if the range is under one hours.. why go to Addis Ababa if u can fly direct from ur city to international city that is near by u.. for example why the Western region such ask Gambella, Gumz, and Amhara to go to Sudan.. why would the Southern region go to Addis if they want to go to Kenya or Uganda or other southern Africa nation.. all this can be answered by stop over ...
when Ethiopian airline fly to Uganda stop over in southern Ethiopian region such as Hawassa or other city and fly to Addis u do it once a week to see the market .. this way no body need start their own airlines if EAL SERVE THEM BETTER..
lucky for u i enjoy economy and business otherwise as u said we already discussed in other thread many time over even the Tigray wanted to start out their own airlines which is stupid idea .. if Eritrea cant make it if Kenya cant make it how on earth Golden can make it .... airlines business is very risky business .. u have to know the market well and take away your emotion out of it.. if u r guided by wanting to see Tigray having their own airlines then u r doomed u have to be practical.. in fact i give u the best business solution i dont know u dont build in what i say instead of keep on saying we want international airport what do u mean by that.. how many plane do u need for that where r u going to get the plane .. do u think the political environment allowed u to get any thing from fed. government ;;; if u start airlines business with fed. money then we own part of your airline business how can u be independent then ... even Eritrean government fail to pay EAL they almost canceled the route ..so this thing must be seen carefully.. that all.

i dont think this guys EthioRedSea is Golden or even Amhara for that matter.. he cant be dumb like this he want to start Eritrean airline business without having plane .. i mean Tigray northern star do u remember when one guy told them there is northern star airline in Canada they change the tune ..... long range flight business the worst business one can start /// u have million competition but what u have control over is domestic flight
for example if u fly from Golden city to Saudi .. there is no can compete with u because u have home advantage.... even EAL cant compete with u
because if i am starting my flight from Golden city to Saudi how on earth EAL CAN compete with TIGRAY. Northern star or TNS AIRLINES
TO FLY by EAL I HAVE TO go to Addis Ababa back to Saudi .. instead of flying direct to Saudi from Golden city...all u need is 50 passengers or half full 25 passengers to make it profitable then trying to get 250 passages to fill dreamliner 787
