Menelik has given away Eritrea to Italy.
He should be removed from our history.
Menelik is used and abused by the Amhara political elites to dominate Ethiopia.
Taitu and Menelik were traitors, even thought they were victorious in a battle against Italy, but lost the war against Italy and European power of their time.

Menelik was simply a traditional tribal chief and lacked the knowledge and capapcity to lead Ethiopia. He has done much harm to Ethiopians who are still suffering because their history and ports are taken away.

Menelik has been conspiring against Emperor Yohannes by siding with Sudanese islamist army. Menelik signed the Wuchale treaty whcih brought Italy to seize Ethiopian lands.

We need to remove the staue of Mnelik in Addis Ababa and replace street names or schools with other names like Geheladewos etc.

Remove the monument to Menelik and demolish the Taitu Centre or Hotel.
Both were traitors. The gave away Eritrea to Italy , thus giving all our brothers and sisters to slavery.

We are exagerating about the role of Menelik' He was an ignorant thief and cheat. He was co-operating with Sudanese muslim army and Italy against Ethiopian ruler of the day. Taitu is better, but still part of the crime in giving away Ethiopia's sovereign land to Italy. Taitu should have opposed to the treaty betwen Italy and Menelik.

We need to hang Menelik posthumously and demolish the minument to him. No street or school or hospital should be named after Menelik and Taitu. The amahara elites use Menelik and Taitu to have some sort of legtimacy to rule Ethiopia. They exagerate the role Menelik had at the Battle of Adwa. Amhara elites present Menelik as a demi-god, which we need to expose and fight against as wrong for Menelik was a traitor, greedy and backward tribal chief.
