Amharic should not be the working language in Ethiopia- it undermines Ethiopia's future to develop

Post by EthioRedSea » 31 Aug 2019, 13:39

We should learn from India, Pakistan and Switzerland. We need to allow the major ethnic group languages to be used beside English. You can force the people of Tigray to learn amharic as they have Tigrigna which much more developed than amharic. You can not force the Oromo people to speak Amharic as Oromo is widely spoken.

Tigrigna, Oromo, Somali, Amharic and English could be the four working languages in Ethiopia. For the purpose of maitaining histrical legacies, we need to use the Ethiopic script for all languages in Ethiopia.

Yes Sir,
I agree. Amharic was declared no man's language. The implication is that Amharic language isn't mother tongue for anyone nation/nationality in Ethiopia. This means that it is a creation in the field and hence it can't suit to anyone's mother tongue speech satisfaction or psychology. It should be banned.

We have to be fair to all our ethnic groups. We are destined to live together. We need to work a formula to satisfy every ethnic group so that evey ethnic group are happy to be part of Ethiopia.

Amharic can be one of the working languages. I suggested to use Oromo, Somalia, Tigrigna, Amharic and English to use as working languages. Banning Amharic would disadvantaging those who want to speak Amharic. The aim of federalism is to give opportunites to all as much as possible. It would be impossible to allow all ethnic groups as a worm=king language on a country level. We should divide Ethiopia's into 4 clusters: Somali, Oromo, Tigrigna and Amharic. Using only one tribal language to be used as working language is undemocratic and wrong.
