With mine and many of you countrymen/women’s wishes for the old country to have peace with itself still intact, we also live in countries where path charting elections are being held. Such countries are in the middle of national elections that will tell which way they are heading jn their foreign and domestic policies. The world has come to a point where there are two opposing camps facing each other with one group trampling on human and democratic rights and the other one committed to protect such rights. Those of us who are eligible to vote must use such rights wisely with our well being where we live being the deciding factor. Inflation, homelessness, safety and the preservation of the civil rights should be on the upper deck of our deciding factors. The rest are secondary. Above all we have to vote.

Ethiopia manufacturing potential is a massive , it can replace countries like Cambodia and Vietnam in a very short period of time. And it has the GERD to fuel the manufacturing engine. The economy of the horn is interconnected. And each geographical area is good for something. If Ethiopia economy improves there is no doubt the whole region will improve too. Countries like Somalia and Eritrea are stuck in the past but their citizens are far more better traders than the Ethiopians and exposed to the entire world . Ethiopia should adopt a free market policy.

You can manufacture whatever , but if you don't have good trade partners, it won't go anywhere. I believe most of horn Africans are well aware that we are lagging behind the world. Because they see even citizens of EAC ( the east African community) Have better Life compare to the average habesha or Somali. Somalis are investing hundreds of millions In places like Kenya contributing the EAC development. But don't invest in their own homeland or Ethiopia. the peaple with the money are running away from us because of the instability.

I am with you in your assessment regarding the potentials of the Horn Africa as the whole. All of them have untapped natural resources and youthful generation that can tear down mountains. If there is sustained peace and stability every one of them has what it takes a country of vast middle class. That won't happen without an all out industrialization. Industrialization won't materialize without peace and stability maintained. I honestly believe that every one of those countries has the skills to carry out region wide industrialization from such skills now scattered all over the globe. The literacy rate is up in every one of them. We are all adaptable/adapting people. All they need is peace and stability.

Let's hope and pray that the politicians will finally converge on the same wavelength and toil together to take the whole region out of unending conflict, deaths and destruction. Those who believe they can profit from deadly conflicts, it will be a matter of time before their evil scheme catches up with them. What saddens me to my bones and at the same time angers me is to see some among our own Diaspora using the suffering of those upright and noble people to line their pockets. YouTube is full of them now. Every social media is loaded with their disgusting flame fanning. Just look at the profanities and pejoratives they are spewing around on this very platform. They denigrate every ethnic group out there. They use denigrating terms being used by Neo-Nazis and other racist extremists. Do they do that just to prove to us that they are more civilized than the rest of us? I really don't have a sensible answer for that. You should be proud of your leaders and the citizens of your country.

We were industrializing with products occupying shelf-space at major department stores and international chains. What remained was scaling-up by duplicating the same proven experiment.

The notion that we have to start from scratch is a distortion. We have been de-industrializing for quiet sometime now. Contrary to popular belief, de-industrializing doesnt happen due to logistical disruptions caused by the occasional armed robber attacks. Inventory is securitizable and insurable and as such risk is manageable.

De-industrialization occurs when there is a major hit on the forecast of the original business plan itself. Loss of markets, significant cost shifts come to mind. Perhaps it is best that you identify these factors rather than lament using pentecostal piety and/or leaning on patriotic guilt-tripping to obfuscate what is otherwise a scientific problem.

I just read news by Reuters in which it was reported that Turkey is mediating talks between Somalia and Ethiopia about the issues between these two neighbors. I hope both nations’ leaders will regain their senses and solve the senseless squabbles they are having now. Both these two nations have huge potentials only if they are at peace with each other. Somaliland is an issue that Somalia itself brought upon itself and Ethiopia was not the one that created it. It is something our very dear Somali brothers and sisters has to handle between themselves peacefully and only peacefully.

Meanwhile, all those neighboring Ethiopia should come to realize that Ethiopia is now a country of more than 130 million people and growing. Such enormous number of people cannot continue to be suffocated without an outlet to sea. That in itself will be a recipe/cause for future costly conflict. Pundits and politicians in all three countries of Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia should get their act together and work in alliance so their citizens will have the chance to drag themselves out of abject poverty. Stupid sense of baseless vendetta ain’t gonna further the accord for all of them. They have to accept the irrefutable fact that none of them are Arabs, Semitic people or caucasians from Tuscany. Make no mistake, Somalia has always been willing to solve any issue with anyone peacefully, and your shithole is not an exception. Somalia, like Eritrea, Kenya, and Djibouti, has always been ready to provide Ethiopia with access to the sea and allow it to use any port in Somalia, including Berbera port and Mogadishu port. But what you've got to inculcate into your imbecilic brain is that we'll NEVER allow evil Ethiopia to annex any portion of our sovereign territory.

They have to rein in those who used these sacred platforms to pitch one group of people against another by hurling repulsive and denigrating pejoratives. Those upright and noble people we left behind and that gem of the colored that produced us all have gone through and seen enough unimaginable bloodshed and destruction because of stupid individuals on both sides. Since 1974 every regime that ruled that country one after another has been more or less a disappointment. When you think one has learned a bitter lesson from its predecessors, it won’t take too long before it dashes to its arsenal and point its deadly guns at its own justice demanding unarmed citizens. It is a typical African disease. There is also another fact our old country has seen it all like everyone else in modern history since the 1776 American War of Independence. That historical fact is there has never been a single armed group that brought democratic form of governance once it topples a sitting government. Not one!!! One may have well educated and eloquent leaders at the top but when it comes to a form of governance where no one is above the law, they will turn into murderous beasts. So that country is now between a hard and rock place. Despots in towns and bigots in the bushes are taking it apart. Trust, that's not the right way to do it.

In order for a thread to be active, it has to engage the forum users. And for the forum users to engage with a thread, the thread needs to attract them. And for the thread to attract the forum users, it has to be discussing something which forum users can relate themselves to.

For instance, one may well discuss the stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matters of a galaxy every single fuc'king day on this forum. But if forum users can't relate to the topic or its essence for them to engage with it, the thread would simply amount to a wasted time.
