ናፈቅከውም ነቀፍከውም፣ የንጉሣን አገዛዞች ኢትዮጵያ የምትባል የራሷ ሃይማኖት፣ ባህል፣ ህግና አስተዳደር ያላት ወደ 31 ሚሊዮን ህዝብና 80 ቋንቋዎች የሚነገርባት ውብ ሃገር በውጭ ተፅዕኖ ሳትደፈርና ሳትበረዝ አቆይተው ሰጥተውሃል። ወደድክም ጠላህም ፣ይኸ የታሪካችን አካል ስለሆነ ሁልጊዜም ሲነገር ይኖራል። በዚያ ጊዜ የነበሩት ሰዎች ሲሞቱ፣ ታሪካቸው ይጠፋል ብለህ የምታስብ ከሆነ፣ መሰረታዊ ዕውቀት የጎደለህ ሰው ነህ ማለት ነው።

ከዚያ በኋላ የመጡት መሪዎች ደግሞ የቀላዋጭ፣ የተመፅዋችና የጎጠኝነት ካባ አልብሰው አዋርደው የዓለም መጨረሻ አድርገውናል። ታዲያ እኔና አንተ ዛሬ የእነሱ መርዝ ተፈናጥቆብን፣ ፀጉር ሰንጣቂና ተጠራጣሪ ሆነናል።

Selam, you call me whatever you like to call me but am not your abiyot. If not liking the kings makes me abiyot, let it be so. You should be better in conversation avoiding arrogance and my way or the highway which is our typical Ethiopian culture. I am sure you have seen how smoothly conversations go in major fora like yahoo etc. I am not annoyed or going to call you name. There are good things we inherited from our past and we are not going to argue on that. Our ancestors gave us a country as well protected it from invaders/colonizers. We are not going to hide the bad things either. The bad things might have happened mostly due to the inherent nature of the feudal (global, we had relation with the British and other feudal Europeans) system. It is gone and in poor Ethiopia this is not going to come back, not by force, not now (may be one day when we have enough recourses). However, we should be willing to change and adapt to human civilization. We won't be able to bring back the past as generation and time has changed. Today's needs are different. Society has changed. Today's Ethiopian society is very diverse with different religions and sensitized ethnics being more conscious about self and freedom. The burden is up on the politicians, the citizens and the community how to exist together, build peace and prosperity. Dictatorial systems are doomed to fail as our history has witnessed it and we suffered much because of that.

As a foot note, if anyone wants to bring back the royal system for ceremonial reason, like the British, for those of you who love royal sighting and ceremony, you should support all their costs and the political system should be willing to agree for the country to have such institution-not involved in politics but only diplomacy and ceremony. That is my position.

You are too naive about the Western royals,esp British monarchy just symbol. Wrong. It is true, Western nation with kingdoms are rich and stable. They are not fool to affect their own society that the wellbeing to some extent have trickle down to the people. This by no means their kingdoms are just symbol. No. No policy of their nation is implemented without the approval of the monarchies. The monarchy work hand and glove with the govt. I used to think so but the British monarchy not only involved in to the affairs of the Brits, they are the leaders influencers of the US, Canada ( God save the queen!), Australia and New Zealand !

We all learnt through time that the emperor, his highness majesty Hailey Selassie was a wise and honorable man. two reasons below

1) He knew the old government system needed a reform, but there were entrenched powerful elements who were against his reform ajandas

2) we know now that one of the plan he took to overcome the challenges in #1 was bringing all smart kids from all Ethiopia (all ethnicities) and sending them to oversee for better and higher education so that they lead the reform.

But his good desire backfired on him. The students he sent oversees secretly abandoned the education he desired them to learn and studied Marxism Leninism. They linked with Ethiopias historical enemies and created two parties (EPRP & MEiSON). They then brought that to Ethiopia and started their toxic ethnic discourse. Their anarchic movement was secretly taken over by Eritrean and Tigrayan separatists in EPRP and Oromo separatists in MEeson.

They them moved into the violent uprising while secretly filling their ranks and files with Amhara haters. They turned the country into a bloodbath making the country vulnerable and opening the gap for a 31 years old ወጠጤ ወታደር mengistu hailemariam to fill it. He then turned against them and lots of youth died as a result of it. Ethiopia got weakened and Somalia opened it's aggression coming all the way to Awash. Eritrean separatists also encircled Asmara. The situation allowed the Derg to be entrenched till it's catastrophic downfall. The rest you know it.

It is best to unlearn what you have learnt about the emperor because we were all told a one sided narrative

You are great when you tell Ethiopias story. Protecting Amara does not mean you should abandon Ethiopia so Amara can only be safe with its brothers in true pro Ethiopia.

That being said, leaders must be strong to lead and against threat. Their strength also to recognize issues and implement swiftly before it is too late. Ase H Selassie Yeteshewedut ezih lay niw. While strong, he should have built generations of H Selassies, Miniliks meaning future generations so Ethiopia will continue . While he was good in diplomacy even with those who are against Ethiopia such as Brits and Italy, he may have put his guard down by being or guided too much by Brits, l think Brits was working behind him while being close to him. After all it was British who installed its mercinaries Eplf and Jebha, Tplf and Olf to take over the nation post Derg. They also created and trained Liyu militias for each regions so they annihilate one another for no more Ethiopia. Of course their allies were supporting them as well.
