Re: Gurage Diaspora Conference

Very old, in his 80s, almost near his grave, he is supposed to speak unity of Gurage rather than celebrating the sabotage exit of Sodo/Mesqan from Gurage. Very inappropriate noise maker. Kistane may join Oromo but Gurage will liberate its land.

A big gap between east and west specially with Sodo.
An extensive work may have to be done in many ways to salvage the unity

Except variations of the Gurage language, culturally all Gurage is the same. Once the language variation problem is solved, we will all be speaking one cpmmon Gurage language like Amara and Oromo. Once that common Gurage language is in place, taught in schools, used for government services and media, within less than 30 years, we would have a Gurage-wide understood, even preferred, common and written language.
7bet(includes Abeshge) and Mesqan are nearly 90% intelligible to each other. Kistane and Welene. Kokir. Gedebano. Gutazer less than show more disparity with 7bet/Mesqan. They are all however branches of Gurage.

Not unsolveable problem but Ethiopian governments of PP and TPLF never wanted a united Gurage. Gurage has not reacted to this. It seems to me that they did not recognize the gov in Addis was no more the governments of Menelick and Haile Sellasie. Or they convinced themselves that Menelick and Haile Sellasie or their look alike would return after tplf and pp. If they had Fano in their mind, they need to invest in warfare. They should not only fight Fano battles, they should there should exprmplary Gurage military leaders such as Balcha, Habtegiorgis, Damte and W.Selladie Bereka. Fano is not a Shewa Amara, a more distant animal but could be friendly to Gurage.
