The people of Assab participated in the independence referendum, and there is no evidence to suggest any form of coercion or undue influence in their vote. Like the rest of the regions, they voted for independence from Ethiopia.

Also how can an American make demands regarding matters that do not pertain to their ownership or jurisdiction, especially in relation to Ethiopia and Eritrea? To clarify, no Ethiopian government has ever officially claimed any part of Eritrea.
