⏭︎ Before the US illegally incorporated the nation of Eritrea to its African neo-colony Ethiopia in 1952, Eritrea had the second-largest economy and was the most developed nation in Africa next to South Africa.
⏭︎ During the 10 years of British military occupation of Eritrea from 1941 to 1952, all the heavy equipment at Eritrean ports were dismantled and moved to Britain or its colonies elsewhere, in a brazen robbery scheme of staggering proportions!
⏭︎ Hundreds of Cable cars suspended in the air from a cable stretched 115 Kilometers from Asmara to Massawa was the longest in the world. Eritrean merchants and traders sent their goods from Asmara to Massawa, and vice versa, using the cable cars which were called Teleferica. The technologically challenged Derg regime dismantled the Teleferica and used it for building trenches.
⏭︎ Eritrea was the first country in the world to use Italian-made battery-operated trucks that were widely used for collecting garbage in Asmara. After the US forced Eritrea to become part of its neo-colony Ethiopia to establish a US military base in Asmara named Kagnew Station, most of the battery-operated trucks in Eritrea were loaded on ships and taken to California.
The few remaining battery-operated trucks later became a subject of Derg's scrutiny, as they evoked fear to Derg officials. "If they are real trucks they should take fuel and make noise," they reasoned. Something that moved without making a noise aroused their suspicion, so they blew them up, one by one, until they were all gone!

Wow! Thanks, Fiyameta for sharing a piece of Eritrean history. I also heard that the BMA (British Military Administration), stole in broad daylight tons of hardware including a couple of Drydock ship repair stations in Massawa, brand new railroad rails, and sleepers along with several locomotives and rail cars, which were part of the Italian grand plan to extend the Asmara Bisha line (via Aqordat) to Barentu, Tesseney, OmHajer and on to Gonder, Ethiopia, as a first stage of their planned expansion into Ethiopia, entering Addis Ababa being on the pipeline. All this was in a vain attempt to support their bogus claim that Eritrea was economically inviable to be an independent country!

When King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, raised his sword to cut the baby in half, he had no intention of killing the baby, but he did so in order to find out which woman was the real mother of the living baby.
The real mother cried "Please, my lord, don't kill him. Give him to her!"
When the British colonial empire announced their plan to partition Eritrea along religious lines, with the Muslim population joining Sudan and the Christians Ethiopia, they had every intention of erasing the country from the face of the Earth. But God was watching.
Some Eritreans cried, "Please, your majesty, don't divide our beloved country. Give it to your servant next door instead," knowing that they will do everything in their power to right the wrongs, and not just complain about it.
But there were no wise men in the British colonial empire to hear a case of people facing life-or-death situation, only evil people hell bent on partitioning a country if it serves their interest, or facilitating the annexation of Eritrea by their Neo-colony Ethiopia that was already serving their interest. In the end, as Karma would have it, it was the servant that was made to bear the brunt of the mistakes the British colonial empire made.

This is an example of presenting anecdotes out of a volume as incontrovertible truth, which is easy to do like I demonstrated above.
The more difficult thing to do is presenting a widely accepted view of the long history of our region.
Who are the authoritative historians of our region whose accounts of its long history is widely accepted by Ethiopians and Eritreans alike?

A wise Borana person said once upon a time, when two groups were fighting against each other, you are like the Borana of Sololo and Hiddi Lola. Are you capable of convincing that person otherwise or do you live in self-righteousness?
