Why am I saying this?
Because prostitution in Ethiopia have always been one of the most practiced occupations with no license. It was much more popular and much more practiced occupation during the king's time. Almost all waiters in almost all the hotels and restaurants were also selling their services besides the nominal employment pays made. And the hotels, restaurants and cafe owners also take some % share from the incomes of the female waiters doing double jobs to survive.

And the reasons?
Simply unemployment, poverty, underdevelopment, brutal patriarchal domination that tokenizes and degrades women. Some of the new features in the issue might be that the women are currently younger, beautiful and can communicate easily both offline and online where us in olden days women came mostly from the far and near country sides with no particular skills.

And the Indian guy also seems to be just an ordinary young man who came across beautiful young girls who are communicative and open to flirtations unlike some of the rigid and clenched fist waving angry Ethiopian men who think that women are their untouchable private property with no question being asked.

How about?
How about if a young Ethiopian man happens to visit some countries and starts bragging about his easy and relaxing access to the local girls. Are some of you angry guys going to take off your pants and jump on him with the same rage you jumped on this Indian man? Just asking?

Prostitution is just the result of erosion of social norm and tradition. The communist ideology which was experimented in Ethiopia after the removal of Haile selasie from power by the Derg played a huge role to make people distance themselves from their norm and tradition hence normalization of prostitution and other nasty habit which is alien to the society. If we take Eritrea for instance, during the old days, our parents used to think that there was a special place of hell to people who smoke cigarettes and any man who smoke was considered as worthless individuals who is no good for nothing. Today, there is no shame,,,even women compete with men who drinks more alcohol or smoke shisha and they dress indecent without the reaction of the people.

In the developing world, prostitution is simply due to poverty. While in the so-called developed world, it's mainly due to drug addiction.

It's been an issue, but I wonder, did such things occur in haile selassies (my parents era) time? Of course, I am not a fan of his govt or his policies, but I am fair, or try to be; and I just don't imagine those things in their time. But, I could be wrong. Most of my families from the rural areas (Jimma, Adoola aka Kebre Mengist, etc), where these things would NEVER HAPPEN, AND THESE INDIAN COWARDS would NOT TRY this, or else, the consequences would be harsh.
