You guys being obsessed with telling us who and what we are, is hilarious. This is what you choose to exert your effort on, as opposed to a million other things that would be far more productive and helpful. Like it or not, the old Ethiopia that many of your kind dream of, will never come back.
Get used to it.
As far as addis ababa goes, remember, this was the status quo for decades upon decades, it was developed while other regions were neglected; the previous governments failed Ethiopia. The current government, even with all of its flaws, is not to blame for the mess addis ababa has been. Can't change decades upon decades of messes, overnight or even in a year or a few. It takes time, especially for aid dependent countries like ours, a country that has depended on certain European elites since its inception-menelik depended on them, yohannes did, tewodros begged them for military aid, mengistu depended on ussr, haile selassie was the west's puppy who fed his dogs the best sega wat while millions starved, and the list goes on.
.. Yes, they should have attempted to develop many cities, throughout the country, in order for things like this, to be avoided entirely. Hawassa, Bahir Dar, Jimma, Mekelle, etc many other cities should've been developed more to accommodate the people.
your laziness and blame game... there was no chaos in Ethiopoia prior to Derg and getting worse under this government. What you do not want to say is destroy and rebuild Olf style that is what you are implying at. your political agenda from the beginning is let Ethiopia bleed until my ethnicity or religion takes over. We have ignorant vengeful people like you commenting here on ER as you please as enemy of the country
Tigrayan Unity,
No chaos under haile selassie? what about the revolt and armed struggle in bale? that made him beg the uk, the us and israel for military aid to suppress it and even then, it raged for 7 years? what about when the italians invaded, and he ran like a coward, and got spat at by the wolloyes out of their hatred for him? What about the fact he was targeting all languages, for destruction, except for amharic? he banned the development of afaan oromo, even closing down an oromo radio that was opened during the italian occupation, he burned tigrinya books in eritrea & tried to forcefully amhara-ize them too?
What about the first woyane struggle, that started in raya, that made him also beg the british to help suppress it?
what about the wollo famine? there were many, many issues during the reign of haile selassie. let's not pretend here.
there is no greater ENEMY to the country than ourselves. if we were able to compromise on issues important to us, and truly unite; the external forces could not harm us as much as we harm each other. simple as that.
