Recently, standardmedia.co.ke reported that war-torn Ethiopia has shifted some of its imports and exports away from Djibouti's port to Kenya's Mombasa and Lamu ports, This is a blatant lies.

Cash-strapped Kenya has consistently and repeatedly offered its Mombasa and Lamu ports to landlocked Ethiopia which rely exclusively on Djibouti to conduct global trade, however, poverty and violence ravaged landlocked Ethiopia isn't interested in using Mombasa and Lamu ports for three very good reasons but it will definitely continue to pay lip service to Kenya’s government.

  • Reason number one

War-torn Ethiopia, with a population of over 120 million imports and exports very little, its exports are mainly agricultural commodities such as coffee, cut flowers, very small gold, khat, fruits and vegetables, which account for over 98 percent of total export value, It's five times the value of what Djibouti, with a population of less than 1 million people imports and exports, One port is more than enough.

  • Reason number two

There is no road connecting Mombasa and Lamu port to Isiolo therefor truck drivers cannot drive from Mombasa and Lamu ports to war-torn Ethiopia, The construction of 530 kilometers Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo road was started in 2016 but has never been completed but more importantly, the distance between Lamu port and Moyale Ethiopia border is 978 kilometers and the distance between Lamu port and Addis Ababa is 1.883 kilometers, while the distance between Djibouti port and Ethiopia's Afar region border is less than 150 kilometers, It takes less than two hour, on an average, for a truck to reach Ethiopia's Afar border, Now compare that to Mombasa and Lamu.

The total driving distance from Djibouti port to Ethiopia's Afar region border is less than 150 kilometers.

  • Reason number three

Rampant cargo theft, bribery and corruption in Kenyan ports, Kenyan port staff and customs officials are stealing cargo containers bound for the neighbouring landlocked countries from Mombasa port.

Here are some examples

In another case, 150 containers were released without duty being paid on them using an account and password that were non-existent in official records.

Billions lost as cargo theft hits Kenya Ports Authority

The Port of Mombasa risks losing its competitive edge following a wave of cargo theft that has hit the supply chain along the Mombasa-Malaba highway, importers and transporters have warned.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) describes the theft of the cargo as “a grave concern”

The Standard on Sunday established that officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission as well as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are expected in Mombasa this week to probe the alleged theft of more than 2,000 containers loaded with assorted items destined for Uganda in the last nine months.

Analysis into the corruption at Mombasa port

Alexander Farrow, Business Intelligence Officer at MAST comments on the investigation.
It has been reported that Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is working in partnership with international security agencies such as Interpol and Britain to assist with the investigation of corruption allegations involving cargo theft at the port of Mombasa.

The extent of the corruption is still unclear, but the involvement of Interpol and Britain among other nations suggests that this is a significant breach of the ports security.

Djibouti is irreplaceable, It has proved itself to be very reliable and trustworthy country but if miserable war-torn Ethiopia continues spreading blatantly lies about Djibouti, Djibouti would probably suspend the transit of imported and exported goods through its ports into war-torn Ethiopia.

Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway.

Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Map.

Nairobi-Nanyuki Railway Line.

In 2021 Kenya Ports Authority Board Chairman General Joseph Kibwana said plans are underway to have cargo destined for war-torn landlocked Ethiopia be transported from Mombasa via the Standard Gauge Railway to Nairobi then to Nanyuki via the refurbished railway line.“The cargo will then be moved with truck to Moyale,” that is desperate times call for desperate measures.

The Chinese-built 752.7-km Ethiopia-Djibouti railway earned 2.84 billion Ethiopian birr (about 50 million U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year 2023/2024, which started on July 8, 2023, an Ethiopian official said Wednesday.

ADDIS ABABA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese-built 752.7-km Ethiopia-Djibouti railway earned 2.84 billion Ethiopian birr (about 50 million U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year 2023/2024, which started on July 8, 2023, an Ethiopian official said Wednesday.

Speaking to state media outlet Ethiopian Press Agency, Aminu Juhar, chief corporate strategy officer at the Ethiopia-Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway Share Company (EDR), said the revenue generated is up by about 1.12 million U.S. dollars compared to the same period last year.

The rail line served 148,664 passengers during the first nine months of the 2023/2024 fiscal year, an increase of 15 percentage points compared to the same period last year, Juhar said.

He said the increases in the EDR's revenue and passenger figures were achieved despite challenges such as the ongoing security crisis in the Red Sea region and recent floods that affected Djibouti Port.

The Ethiopia-Djibouti standard gauge railway, also known as the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway, was contracted by China Railway Engineering Corporation and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.

The railway began commercial operations for both passenger and freight services in January 2018, connecting landlocked Ethiopia to ports in the Red Sea (the Gulf of Berbera also known as the Gulf of Aden) country of Djibouti.

Chinese-built Ethiopia-Djibouti railway earns 50 mln USD in 9 months

The title is misleading, because Addis–Djibouti Railway was financed by a loan from China's Exim Bank and built by China Railway Group and China Civil Engineering Construction and therefore China's Exim Bank earns 50 mln USD in 9 months.

Anyway, we are at the mercy of hard working Somali men and women, without Djibouti, war-torn Ethiopia economy is doomed, So let me repeat again, On behalf of Ethiopia's eighty five different ethnic groups, I want to thank you Djibouti for your excellent and trustworthy service, we are doomed without Djibouti.

Kenyans - celebrating too early.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy described the port as a game changer.

“It is up to us, residents, to take advantage of the opportunities that will come with this port to prosper economically,” he said.

Timamy said the Lapsset road connecting Lamu to Ethiopia through Ijara, Garissa, onwards to Isiolo and to Moyale, should be fast-tracked.

“It is our prayer that the road is completed on time to efficiently transport goods to Ethiopia,” he said.

This is the first time war-torn Ethiopia is importing 60,000 tonnes of fertilizer through Kenyan Port from Morocco and it will be the last time, Cash-strapped Kenya is very happy now but I am sure it will be very disappointed soon.

Doctor AbyssiniaLady

let me tell story even so u know it , let me repeat it for those Eritrean stone head...

Eritrean fought to separate from Ethiopia ...

the cover case was Ethiopia exploiting us, Ethiopia dominating us but the real cause was the Eritreans thought they got Assab port, since they got Assab port they will have Ethiopians by throat they can charge any price they want and Ethiopians they have pay because if not we shut them down. if this happened Eritrean figure it out they will live without working just by charging port fee .

the idiot dead donkey Amhara attitude also didn't help because they didn't play poker face , they exposed their card and crying if Eritrean saparated we going to die because we will lose Assab so the Eritrean 100% convinced that they have to break up to earn Assab income 100% to themselves without sharing with Ethiopians

then Meles skybuilder come and listen to Eritrean idiotic argument and told them go head let Assab be drinking hole for your Camel and left Assab port.. the Amhara go banana thinking that they will be choked . then the Great leader show them the alternative and the Djibouti port born...

When Ethiopians knocked the Djiboutian door , the Djiboutian didn't even hesitated the welcome Ethiopian and give them one port ... but the Djiboutian also didn't sit idle ... they build Djibouti port in world standard ..mind u the port build by Emirati multinational logistics company based in Dubai.... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL here come the kicker the Emirati doesn't want black Muslim to make it rich so what they did was restricting the Djibouti from building other port ... at that time the Djiboutian have no choice to sign the deal and the port was built and when the time come for Djibouti to build another port the Emirati asking for the pound of flash and they hell no u will not build another port we going to lose business so don't build to keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep them in poverty... so the Djiboutian said no way this is our country we going to build YES, NO , YES NO, SO Emirati sued Djibouti guess who is a judge the British of course the British side with Emirati...

u know what happened the Djibouti said okay we have majority vote we own 75% so we buy u .. guess what the Emirati DP WORLD said no ..their intention was to stop the black people from development.... u know what the Djibouti leader did he change the law or the rule to allowed the Djibouti to build another port now Djibouti have 7 port ..

u guys might think contract is contract Djibouti should respect the contract.. okay let me tell u another story DP World should have only Djibouti port when they build the first port.. they have new comer to the game .. thanks to Djibouti port they make so much money now they go around the world and build 78 port ... u see they start out from Djibouit they end up world first player but they dont want the same for the black African so sometime we should break up unfair deal...

another important thing all 7 port build under Golden TPLF regime.......... no let go back to Eritrea, Eritrea lost all this because their stupidity... they have 4400 km of seacoast and Djibouti have only 120km seacoast and look how much the difference.. Djibouti will enter first world soon..

3rd Djibouti know where their bread come they don't mess up with Ethiopia .. they don't involved in politics... they knew they r jr, partner

4th and the most important thing is they have build free zone .. this 42 km free zone will bankrupt Eritrean what ever advantage they have ... this Djibouti they are so smart they even connected to Golden city by train . but the nearest port for the Golden city was ምፅዋ ... if Eritrean doesn't
benefit from this location advantage then the Djibouti will take the business not only that they also attracted Rwanda landlocked nation

5th the more Djibouti developed the more electricity need so Ethiopia will supply all electricity and make more money

6th Djibouti no body will touch her because they give station for all supper power who is going to touch them now.. so they will be the safest place to invest ..

7th i cry for Eritrea ..i really cry for Eritrean ... the Amhara really love them not because they r the closest port to Ethiopia but they r Christian the amhara will never want to deal with Djibouti the Muslim country if they had their choice , but their own blood Meles back stabbed Eritrean and deal with Djibouti now there is no turning back.. the Djibouti doesn't even need Ethiopia after this their economy is taking off they r hub for international market.. they handled 10 million cattle

8. again the Ethiopian the only advantage is to build more train all over Ethiopia and reduce the cost of oil by using hydro power and this make Ethiopian the cheapest transportation ... Kenyan build rain from their port to capital city but since the train use oil they didn't make money up to now .. here again Ethiopia have advantage to sale power to Kenya and use their port

Djibouti International Free Trade Zone

this free zone even might attract Ethiopian investors because the Djibouti have free tax to export to USA UNLIKE Ethiopia..

look their policy currency policy and other policy that make them more attractive the Ethiopia still can make money by selling power to Djibouti if everything fail

history tells us that Askaris hate and despise Ethiopia to the bone, but second on the list of their enemy is Djibouti for the obvious reason that it is a gateway and peaceful neighbor to Ethiopia. lately Somaliland appear to make the list for these evils and may top Djibouti as Ethiopia is to begin utilizing Berbera. nothing is working for Askaris

Ethiopian Ship Docks at Port of Massawa After Two Decades - September 05/2018.

As Lamu port's fanfare fades, Kenya is now angry with war-torn Ethiopia and Galla scavengers.

War-torn Ethiopia has nine small second hand cargo ships and two small second hand container ships, they have the right of innocent passage through Somali Sea, However, Somalia has refused permission for the Ethiopian ships to enter/dock in its ports, Berbera and Mogadishu ports, Somalia vows to never allow poverty-stricken war-torn landlocked Ethiopia to use its Mogadishu and Berbera ports until miserable war-torn Ethiopia has learned to live in peace with its neighbor countries.

As of now, 100 percent of war-torn landlocked Ethiopia's meager imports and exports pass through Djibouti ports and it's going to be like this if war-torn Ethiopia survives as a nation for the next 10 years.

Propaganda is different from reality.

Trucks coming from djibouti port, Afar region, Semera, war-torn landlocked Ethiopia.

At least 55 percent of truck driver jobs should be reserved for Somalis and Afars.

July 31 2021.

It’s estimated that between 1500 to 2000 trucks (to ferry mostly western world food aid and fuels) a daily leave Djibouti ports for war-torn Ethiopia, Now imagine a situation Djibouti decides to shut its border with war-torn landlocked Ethiopia tomorrow, Poverty-stricken war-torn landlocked Ethiopia would run out of everything in a few days and in no time the lack of fuel brings hand to mouth economic activity and daily life to a stand still.

War-torn Ethiopia clearly needs Djibouti more than Djibouti needs war-torn Ethiopia.

This is aerial view of container yard and entire Sokhna terminal - Port of Sokhna Egypt not Port of Berbera.

Port of Berbera Somalia.

The dirty low IQ Galla scavengers are re-selling these unrealistic and unattainable ten years old dreams to the poor gullible low intelligence Ethiopians.

According to bloomberg propagandists, War-torn landlocked Ethiopia wanted 30 percent of its trade to go via Berbera by July of 2015, Unattainable dreams.

According to the new deal, Ethiopia will divert 30 percent of its import and export to Somalia's Berbera Port., By William Davison April 4, 2016.

First and foremost, Somalia has complete control over all its ports, that's why no foreign vessel is allowed to enter Berbera port without the consent of the Government of Somalia, Furthermore, war-torn Ethiopia does not possess the capabilities to divert 1 percent of its import and export to Somalia's Berbera Port, let alone 30 percent, but it does have the capability to spread propaganda and disinformation.

Somalia has already warned of legal consequences for any shipping company or any country considering business deals with khat addicted northern Somalis in Hargeisa, no one would dare.

Port of Djibouti.

Djibouti ports tariffs will increase significantly in 2025, War-torn landlocked Ethiopia currently spends over $1.9 billion annually for the use of Djibouti ports.

By the way, there is big difference between access to sea and access to port, War-torn landlocked Ethiopia will never have a direct sea access, It is simply impossible.

Ethiopia Announces Plans to Begin Construction of Awash Fuel Depot Railway Link with Djibouti's Horizon Terminal

Published on 15 August 2024

The Ethiopian government announced plans to commence the construction of a railway link between the Awash fuel depot and Djibouti's Horizon Terminal in the coming Ethiopian year.

This project is expected to enhance the oil loading services provided by the terminal to Ethiopia. The decision to proceed with the project was made following discussions between Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and a delegation led by Djibouti’s Minister of Energy, Younis Ali Guedi. The talks centered on enhancing the oil loading services provided by the Horizon Terminal to Ethiopia.

A subsequent review by technical committees from both countries led to the signing of a construction contract in September. The railway is expected to improve the transportation of fuel between the two countries, boosting trade and economic growth.

High-level officials, including Ethiopia's Prime Minister's Macroeconomic Adviser Ambassador Girma Biru and Ethiopian Investment Holding CEO Dr. Brook Taye, were present during the discussions, underscoring the importance of the project for both nations.

September 4, 2024

New service improves trade connectivity between China, India, and Djibouti.

Singapore – SeaLead, a rapidly expanding global shipping line, announced the launch of its new direct liner service, the Far East India Djibouti (FID) service. This service connects China, India, and Djibouti while extending SeaLead’s reach into the Red Sea. The service will commence on 5 September 2024.

The FID service will operate on a weekly basis. The westbound journey starts in Shanghai, making stops at Ningbo, Nansha, Port Klang, Colombo, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra before reaching Djibouti. The eastbound route will take a direct path from Djibouti to Shanghai. A key feature of this service is its direct connection from the Far East to Colombo, with extended coverage to Djibouti, aligning with SeaLead’s expansion plans while boosting trade efficiency and connectivity across these crucial regions.

The FID service is distinguished by its strategic use of a feeder route from Djibouti to Jeddah, providing seamless access to key markets, along with a direct loop connection from the Far East to Colombo and West Coast India, ensuring reduced transit times and increased shipping efficiency for customers.

War-Torn Landlocked Ethiopia Begins Exporting Livestock to Djibouti by Rail

They have no space to move or lie down and with no cover sun.

Addis Ababa September 23/2024 (ENA) Ethiopia launched its first livestock export to Djibouti by rail, the CEO of Ethio-Djibouti Railways, Takele Uma disclosed today.

“Today, we are launching our first livestock export from ADAMA to Djibouti by rail,” the CEO said on social media.

This approach will maximize the use of our open wagons, which were previously used only for imports, Takele pointed out.

According to him, the beginning of railways transport will also boost export meat quality by minimizing transport stress on animals, showcasing Ethiopia's commitment to efficient and sustainable trade.

The move demonstrates Ethiopia’s dedication to enhancing capital flows across borders, Takele added.

This video is old, It is long before the illegal agreement with Somalia’s northern region, DP World has funded and built Berbera Port, at a cost of US$442 million, But now the United Arab Emirates cannot use freely or invest in Berbera Port without the consent of the Federal Government of Somalia, As of today, Somalis are the only ones using Berbera Port.

The mentally ill elderly listro who posted this video is obviously suffering from envy.
