Historically true that Ethiopians enter into treaties they regret later. The problem also is that they leave no clauses in the contracts they sign to allow a recourse, a revisit, an appeal.
Fasiledes did it with the Portuguese. Menelick did it with Italians. Meles Zeradwa did it with Eritreans. Clown Abiy Ahmed may also be repeating history with Somalia, Kenya, South Africa.

The Algiers agreement was null and void from the out set. It should never come as surprise now as it was an ill-conception.

For that matter, it is not just alone the Algiers agreement that is null and void, the so-called Eritrea "Independence" is null and void from Ethiopia's point of view.

The US, Canada and Mexico have re-negotiated the North America Free Trade Agreement during the first reign of President DJ Trump. It was renogotiated because the US complained that it was an unfair treaty to it. Mexico and Canada could refuse and kill the treaty. But chose to keep it by reducing their earlier gains before renegotiation and by allowing the US to gain more after renegotiation.

The Algiers Agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea should be renegotiated because Ethiopia raised questions of unfair loses to its national interest. Renegotiation is a peaceful mechanism to a war. Or at the minimum, it ends a "No war, No peace" stalemate.

And Melese Zenawi famously handed over Asseb and Massawa to his distant relatives while burning ETHIOPIA & his hometown Tigray.
There should be no negotiations with clow Abiye Ahmed Ali.
The least he can do is deport Eris from Ethiopia and close the border. Time will take care of the rest.

በመጀመሪያ የወያኔ ውሾች ስለ አልጀርሱ ስምምነት መንጫጫት በፍፁም አይፈቀድላቸውም። ባድሜ ለኢትዮጵያ እንድትሆን ተወስኗል ብለው በውሸት ከበሮ ደልቀው ሲያበቁ፣ ከፈጠረቻቸው ዕርጉም ሻዕቢያ ጋር ለሃያ ዓመታት ተፋጥጠው በኪሳራ ተባረው ዱቄት ሆነዋል። ስለዚህ ርዝራዦቹ ወያኔዎች ሰይጣኖቹ አቶ ዓብዮትና ኢሳያስ በሚፈቅዱላቸው ቀለበት ውስጥ ጭራቸውን ቆልምመው ቁጭ ማለት እንጂ ሌላ ምንም የማድረግ አማራጭ የላቸውም።

የአልጀርሱ ስምምነት ተሰርዟል የሚሉት ሌሎች የዋሆች ደግሞ መቼ እንደተሰረዘ ያስረዱን። እንጭጩ አቶ ዓብዮትም ከሻዕቢያ ጋር ምን ዓይነት ስምምነት እንደፈረመ ይንገሩን። ፉርሽ ሆኗል ማለታቸው ምኞት ከሆነ፣ እኔ የተጭበረበረ የወያኔና ኦነግ-ፒፒ የውጪ ፖለቲካ ውስጥ ገብቼ አልጨማለቅም። ዛሬ አንድ ነገር እንቁልልጮ አሳይተውህ ነገ ተገልብጠው ሜዳ ላይ አንጥፈውህ ይሄዳሉ። ከአንድ የፖለቲካ ጫፍ ወደ ሌላው እንደ ልበ-ስውር የሚወናጨፈውን ሆረስ ጭልፊቱንና ዝልግልግ አክሱምን ማየት ነው።

Yes, a question of lack of popluar legitimacy by the Ethiopian people for the EPRDF, the long-time friendship of EPLF and TPLF, their wartime brothers-in- arms solidarity against Ethiopia can certainly make the agreement a questionable treaty favoring only Eritrea and disadvantaging Ethiopia. This has the potential to nullify the Accord and renegotiate it all over again in good faith.
