1. Who's to say it actually took place in 1957? ANYONE can put a date on a photo and claim it occurred on that date; but that doesn't mean that's what actually happened. Also, the abolishment of the federation was a major reason for the Eritrean's being more inspired to struggle for freedom from the Ethiopian Empire. Haile Selassie, like Menge, thought that brute force would work, alas, it didn't.

2. Emperors & Tyrants do not care for the rule of law, especially in empires like Ethiopia, so please, do not pretend as if I am a Foreigner who is not aware of the history of our country.

I see a logical fallacy in your argument.. being born in Ethiopia doesn't bestow on you an outhomatic knowledge of Ethiopian history. Richard Parkhurst had known more history than any Ethiopian I know of. Eritrea existed as separat country for more than 60 years (2 generations) considering the average life span was close to mid 30s. Before you simplfy and state that the separation is due to one single reason read a little deep into it..lazy reading should not be a reason for hasty generations. Haile Selassie was modernising Ethiopia. He was not a bad leader as some say. He was trying to reform the land ownership, which was in the hands of the feudal lords. Haile Selassie was more democratic and progressive than many African leaders. His problem was that he wanted to educate few Ethiopians and not as many as possible. this led to uprising as Ethiopia was backward compared to other African countries.

We hope to see a statue of Haile Selassie in Addis Abeba and some other towns. We need to get rid of Ras Tefferians as they have damaged Ethiopia's image. Jamaicans are slaves and in their culture they will remain slaves. They do not fit in our mind-set and should not be associated with Ethiopia. we need to see an industrialized and modern Ethiopia that has a good share world market.
