Remembering history - We were hard working Eritreans and Ethiopians with Eritrean descent that owned and managed millions (if not billions) of dollars of businesses and properties in Ethiopia. They were dragged out of their beds in the middle of the night, driven to and forced to cross a border that was potentially booby trapped with explosives. Their wealth, that they have worked so hard for their entire lives to amass, was confiscated and ended up in the hands of the Woyanie and their operatives. The deported were not only the well to do but as attested to by human rights investigators, they included, "men, women, and children of all ages. Some have never lived in Eritrea and do not speak any Eritrean languages. Some had served in the Ethiopian armed forces. Others are retired Ethiopian government workers who were living on pensions. Ultimately, the common denominator among the deportees was their Eritrean national origin". Ironically, twenty one years later, after being treated with such cruelty and callousness by Ethiopian authorities, the survivors among these folks are the biggest supporters of the renewed relationship between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Eritreans are pretty forgiving and forward looking people who intensely crave for peace but this sentiment is being misconstrued by some warmongering Ethiopians to mean a weakness. These individuals, using Social Media, are engaged on creating a toxic atmosphere that leads to conflict. These are worthless little people that can be ignored but it is worth remembering that it was a single radio host that was at the center of the horrible Rwanda genocide unleashed against the Tutsies. Great appreciation goes to the peace loving Ethiopians that forcefully aired their opposition against those engaged in fanning the flames of war, and disrespecting and maligning people of a neighboring country.
