The least free country in Africa is Sudan (159), preceded by Ethiopia (153), Democratic Republic of the Congo (152), Angola (151), and Central African Republic (150).

Really?

Normally you manufacture ordinary cheap FAKE NEWS spiced with isolated disconnected boring propaganda lamentations and ritual chanting after chanting but this one is the King and Pope of one of your FAKE NEWS to date.

Why FAKE? because the current reformist and transformational new young government, now in power for only some one and half years have already implemented unbelievable massive and sweeping dramatic changes, never seen and never heard not only in the history of Mamma Ethiopia in some 3000 years but also in the history of the whole wide world for which reason the world came to grant the Nobel Peace Price for Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia's Prime Minister. NOTHING IS MORE VICTORIOUS THAN VICTORY ITSELF!

Contrary to your habitual non stop pathological lies the government is currently being blamed for granting too much freedom and liberty for people who have never had any semblances of freedom and liberty through out historical times and as a result getting wild here and there across the country and committing capital and petty crimes and such actions calling upon themselves to be dictated and controlled with precision simply because the people gets the type government it deserves if justice for all have to prevail. This revelation is for you to digest while you are asleep snoring and daydreaming about power, sweet power, power...!

Last but not least freedom index of countries needs to be seen against the background and years of democracy being practiced in each country (rather than jumping and comparing Apples and Oranges together) and amounts of freedom between countries where one has been practicing democracy for 200, 500, 1000, 2000 etc. years and now having high levels freedom index while some have been practicing democracy only for one and half years. For example even the US has been practicing and developing democracy for some 243 years but yet still far from perfect because democracy is a process and freedom is relative not absolute. BINGO! :P

Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein visited Ethiopia in April, and conducted meetings with released political prisoners and government officials. He underlined the importance of making greater efforts to ensure the independence of the government-affiliated human rights commission.

In April, the US House of Representatives passed a resolution encouraging Ethiopia’s government to increase respect for human rights, rule of law, and democracy. The US maintained its support for Ethiopia and announced that it supports the ongoing reform efforts.

Despite its role as a member of both the UN Security Council and, until the end of 2018, the UN Human Rights Council, Ethiopia maintains its history of non-cooperation with UN mechanisms. Other than the UN special rapporteur on Eritrea, no special rapporteur has been permitted to visit since 2006. The rapporteurs on torture, freedom of opinion and expression, and peaceful assembly, among others, all have outstanding requests to visit the country.

Ethiopia has been inconsistent on human rights-related issues on a number of country situations on the Security Council. It failed to support a long-awaited arms embargo on South Sudan in July. And while voting in favor of a chemical weapons probe in Syria, Ethiopia did not support a March Security Council briefing by the high commissioner for human rights on the situation in Syria.
