Why Even Bring up the Idea of Restoring the Ethiopian Monarchy?

Post by teodroseIII » 30 Sep 2019, 14:48

Ever since I made the decision to quit writing about life in America and focus on the restoration of the monarchy in Ethiopia, I have often been greeted with the same line of questions. The monarchy has been more than forty years, some note, why even bring up the idea of a system that has been silent for close to a half century? This question is frequently followed up by an advice, I’m told over and over again that Ethiopians deserve a democracy instead of a one person autocracy.

What many people know about the Ethiopian monarchy informed through the lens of decades of propaganda and a misunderstanding shaped by disinformation that was spread by vested interests who wish to see our country fractured along tribal lines. Even those who have a deep admiration for the Ethiopian crown are drawn to it not because of the depth of the institution that kept Ethiopia free from colonization but due to the allure of personalities who occupied the throne at various stages of Ethiopian history.

In reality, the Ethiopian monarchy was not about just the head but about a body that started locally and spread outward. Instead of dividing the country based on ethnicity, governance was predicated on regions that were bound together by an overriding sense of nationality above tribe. This is not to say that there were never injustices committed in the past, at different times during Ethiopian history, excesses were evident and transgressions were committed against the most vulnerable. Yet when one steps back and...continued...

Ethoash,

As Dr. Abiy already started the momentous task of restoring the glorious palaces of Ethiopia with out asking or getting any kind of help from the heirs of the Ethiopian Monarchy such as Tedi of this forum, maybe Tedi should have started with some humility in appreciation and recognition of the achievement thus far; the "7th king" did all the accomplishment within a short time against all odds.

The Dr. has already raised millions of dollars of funds for the palace and surrounding restorations. He didn't use any government money.

Teodors, let alone appreciate the 7th King but, has done the opposite by writing many articles denouncing the PM for everything under the sun without giving an iota of credit what so ever to the PM effort regarding the Palaces. At least I have not read anything positive written by Teddy acknowledging the PM's effort in bringing back the glorious Monarchy/history of Ethiopia, to make it a show case and keep it for generations to come. The PM just made a documentary of what is achieved so far and what the future plan is. The extremists are crying foul left and right daily; if Teodros is genuine in what he claimed to be doing, he can give a hand in defending the "7th King's" effort in this matter.

Talk is cheap!

Let us make the PM an honorary"7th King"!

Cheers!
