Divesity is good. but we should be able to select the cultures that are already advanced. Irrecha, or a new celebration in Sidama or plating the lips as is done by Hamer Tribe etc should be discouraged. I was surprised Irrecha has so many followers. Whether we like it or not, the practice of Irrecha is primitive. We are either Orthodox Christians or Sunni Muslims. This what we are and what we should promote. We can allow all ideas and forms to be practices.
It is quite irritating that most Ethiopians in south part of the country follow the Protestant Church. Some follow the catholic Church. This happened because the Orthodox Church is spiritually not prepared to serve the people of Ethiopia. Irrecha is also practiced because The Orthodox Church is not able to reach the Oromo peasants or people in general.
We should stop the celebration of Irrecha as it has no added value to the advancement of spirituality and religion.

This does not mean we should not support the Right of the Oromo peole for expression. Irrecha celebrations should not take us back to other forms of culture. We need to promote the advanced cultural achievements we have.
