It is incredible Ethiopian Airlines has one international airport, which is Addis Ababa. Mekelle , Bahir Dar, Nekempte and other cities should directly connect with major capital cities of the world for business and tourism. Imagine a business man in Nekmpte just flying to New York in 12 hours or sending a shipment of 10 tonne coffe just from Nekmpte to any part of the world. Imagine what this means to the people of Nekmpt having their own hangar and international flight centre. The local population gets emplpyed and there will be an enormous knowledge transfer and Nekmpte becomes more modern as it has to improve it's infrastracture to meet the international standards. Nekmpte could more modern and larger than Addis Ababa as many Oromos will fly directly to Nekmpte as it is close to their home village.

Mekelle International Airport should demand that Ethiopian Airlines enable flights from London, Paris, New York or any other city, which Ethiopian Airlines has services.

We cannot ignore Ethiopian airlines sabotage on providing international services to Mekelle and other cities in Ethiopia (Jijiga, Nekmpte or Hawassa). The government should force Ethiopian Airlines to make integrated domestic and international services. The problem in ethiopian airlines is the managers are anti-Ethiopia. They do not see the need to develop the airports and flights in another centres, which is very important for the economy of these cities.

We call Ethiopians to demonstrate against the ill plans of Ethiopians Airlines to ignore to fly internationa routes from Mekelle, Hawassa, Gondar, Aksum and other cities. It is primitve and illegal to force people to travel only through Addis Ababa for business.
