The majority of Amhara speaking people are either Agaw or Tigre or Oromo. The Amhara is a language community in Ethiopia that came to power after overthrowing Zagwe Dynasty. Their leader was Yukno Amlak, who was well versed in Geez and Orthodox Chrisitian Philosophy.

The lands now occupied by Amhara speaking tribes are those not from Amhara. They are either from Agaw and Tigray or Oromo. They call Wollo Bet Amara. The story is the so-called Yukno Amlak occupied Wollo Area and called it Bet Amhara. Nigus Michael was an Oromo muslim, who was voluntarily converted to christianity and become king of Wollo.

This does not mean Wollo belongs to Oromo. I think we have to be fare it belongs to Agaw people who built Lalibela Rockhewn churches.

The Amhara region is simply a vague region not belonging to Amhara speakers. WE need to give Wollo , Gondar and some other areas to Agaw and Tigray, as most of the towns in Gondar have Tigrigna names. We cannot keep The Amhara vegitate on Ethiopia's culture and history. There is no Amhara tribe, but Amharic speaking different tribes. It is hard to imagine why the lovely people of Argoba are oppressed by Amharas. Argoba are semetic people. Amhara have a rare social development. Some look like Oromos. They dress like Oromos (specially their women in the rural areas).
