How Ethiopia should be reimagined and renovated: parallels from Gurage old house re-consturation.

Ethiopa still stands on many Amhara-centric chauvinistic cultural and other fabrics of the past dismantled exploitative imperial system as a result of which relics of the past over 50 years old feudal imaginations are threatening to come back despite the blood bath paid during the different revolutions in the country.
Gurage constructs a house that overpasses a life span of more than 20-30 years. It can serve a generation. When the house gets old, the Gurage have an imaginative way of renewing or renovating the house. They hold the top in an innovative support system while they remove the wall completely one section at a time until the whole wall is replaced with new wood. Next the same system is used to replace the thatched decayed grass and other old woods etc. Once the renovation is complete, the house stands almost like new and serves a gain for a decade or decades to come. No demolition is required.
By analogy, Ethiopia is too precious to demolish or dismantle as the benefit outweighs a gain from fracturing it, for Ethiopians or for global system. However, to stop the flash back of the old abusive systems getting foot hold in the country and repeat the same backwardness and abuse, Ethiopia needs to be renovated like the Gurage house is renovated. It should proceed into complete renaissance. Remove all fingerprints of past draconian rules, cultural suppression, loss of identity, slurs...etc piece by piece and replace with new values up until the relics of the past and their supporters thin out and get lost at which time realization of the new Ethiopia will emerge.
