This is extremely sad but not surprising. PM Abiy has repeatedly told Ethiopians that his job doesn’t include ensuring security for each locality. I believe he said yemender violence is not his concern.

That is irresponsible. He has the constitutional responsibility of ensuring peace, ending violence, bringing to justice those who beat, kill, rob, rape and generally those who offend groups or individuals. He is presiding over institutions Ethiopias has long built such as the police, internal security and when necessary the military.

Gurage has to fight back as much as it can. That is what its ancestors have been doing and fought to settle in the land and maintain their identity. The new generation has been brain washed by country ideology and forgot self defence and cries to the government as if it will come and save the people. They fought with Oromo and Hadiya for existence. Otherwise whining will make the chauvnists on the forum laugh as if they are any better. By current Ethiopia everybody is expected to stand its ground and that is what is happening now.

The violences against Gurage are easy to resolve border conflicts between Gurage and Cushitic minorities such as Qebena and Mareqo but which require the good will of politicians that which is absent.

Easier said than done. The current Gurage elites only preach peace rather than self-defence. If my memory serves me right, Gurage elites and elders promised Abiy Ahmed during the 2023 movement for Gurage region, after deciding to boycott welcoming and having posed hostile questions, that they will end the Zerma protests and will put a Gurda curse on any youth who protests. These are respectable former heavy weights in Hailesellasie, Mengistu and EPRDF governments.

In addition, they are in control of diaspora Gurage organizations such as International Gurage Association of 7bet and Kerta Global of Kistane. Also, the 7bet elders and elites have their own news organization called Gurage News Network.

Gurage is in tight control by Ethiopian govs loyalists.

Listro Odie, injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. We don't rejoice the suffering of Gurage people at the hands of Oromuma & Hadiya. All we want from Gurage is to not interfere in our affairs. That is all. Also, We do not compare ourselves to Gurages. It is you guys who felt tall enough to compare yourself with us forgetting the higher league we are in that contains only (Oromo, Tigray).

Again, we contend power structures established by Tigre & Oromo to sideline and destroy us. Hadiya chased Gurages from Hosaenna
Mareqo is now chasing them from Butajira.

I feel sorry for Gurages. They are peaceful people and are victims of ethnic federalism as we Amharas are. But I really don't understand their issue with Amharas.
