First of I want to say Happy Easter to my very dear Christian brothers and sisters. In that small railway station we used to celebrate all holidays irrespective of religion during my early formative years more than 7 decades ago. Life under the auspices of the old Chemin de Fer people of various ethnic and religious back had learned to live in harmony and peace for decades. That Sunday morning was off to the races to my childhood friend the late Mekonen to sink my teeth into the delicious homemade bread baked by his mom. She made sure my portion was not touched by any meat products. It was no fuss for my parents. It has been like that until the moon calf Mengistu and his hordes ran that railway to the grown. Those who followed him descending from forsaken escarpment went busy shattering the very fabric that held citizens of various backgrounds together. The poison they spewed around is still wreaking havoc in that country. But that adorable memory still lives fresh in my memory. All Glory To The Good Lord!!!

The other occasion I am celebrating these days with its genius employees from top to bottom is the 80th birthday anniversary of Ethiopian Airlines. You heard me right you smelly bigots and connivers! Yes, I said 'Ethiopian' Airlines. My earliest memory of this pride of Africa goes back more than six decades ago in the former British Protectorate of Aden where one of its air crafts parked outside that city. I believe it was one of its DC-3's blazed with the tri colors on its tail. The pride I felt then as a young boy was so infectious. I wish this airline and its dedicated employees continued and rewarding success for the next 800 years. God speed!!!

Amid these two celebratory occasions, it is disheartening to see/hear some in the opposition parties calling upon the citizens of that country to go into the streets to demonstrate in protest rallies knowing the history of such protest gatherings will turn violent on a dime.
If this call for a nationwide public protest materializes and citizens lost their lives or severely injured. I will be holding both the regime and those who call for the demonstrations equally responsible. Certain opposition parties such as the EPRP do not seem to abandon their decades old fantasy to be rulers by way of urban insurrection as prescribed by their idol Lenin. You can hear them moaning and in a way bragging about the May Day massacre in Addis/Finfinnee in the late 1970's. At that time they egged and urged the young including underage children to go out in the streets to protest knowing for fact that the bloodthirsty Mengistu would use his machine guns and he just did that to the last shell in the clips mowing down hundreds to death. But others like the EPLF had instructed Eritreans to stay at home and they did just that saving their lives to see another day. This was told by the former members of the then opposition parties.


But there are some out there who still fantasize and glorify that deadly mistake. There should not be additional proof that the current regime would kill when threatened. There is a mountain of evidence about that. So why call for demonstrations knowing for fact that the thugs embedded in the regimes security outfit would kill? Why? That would be because it is just in individuals' fantasies. Urban insurrection will not work in the old country. Ask those who tried that in the years 2020-2021 following the assassination of Hachalu and now live at missionary shelters. Ask them. Their fantasy of becoming leaders of a new ethnic-exclusive republic has become just an illusion as The Wiz of Oz. 'Ethiopia, out of Oromia! Ethiopia out of Oromia!' That Barentu Taytu, that Gobena, that Dinegde, that Garasu, that Jagama and the rest of other fellow patriots would turn in their grave saying 'Does this person realize how he is embarrassing and making a fool of himself for saying that?'. I guess sometimes what matters is not which ivy college you went to but it is how you talk when you come back. What a waste of resources!!!

One common attributes of all rulers of the old country since the late Emperor is all of them claim to be theoreticians. The moon calf and human bloodthirsty Mengistu had crowned himself to be the 'Center' of all theories. The one that followed him was said to possess a steel trap brain of every researched papers out there and he then concocted what he called 'Developmental Democracy' leaving everyone confused and disoriented. You better not take the 'democracy' in his theory at its face value and go into the streets to peacefully demonstrate. If you do that, his lieutenants will have their well trained sharp shooters waiting for you at high rise building with your head in their crossfire. You wouldn't know what just hit you. This one has even come up with a theory(philosophy) built on what is termed 'synchronicity' and everyone seems to be confused by it. My understanding is some people can be in the 'synchronicity' and some may be not. And you better not be the confused. But in light of the confusion, I still believe this regime is at the country's final crossroads. It must be sorted out peacefully. This is it and the last chance for that gem of the colored and its more than 130 million upright and noble. Violence will only lead to unseen abyss where the entire 130+ million people will be on the move. That is because there is no group in the opposition as of now that is strong enough to pick up the baton. Then you may kiss and say good bye to that gem of the colored. Btw, his northerly neighbor even has a more elaborate theory that encompasses the entire globe he calls 'Uni/Multi-polar' world order he panhandled/pilfered from others.

If you are looking for a miracle of survival, the Babile Elephant Sanctuary is one of them. It has survived wars, poachers and nature's calamities. Among wars, it had even survived burn-all and kill-all soldiers of Siad Barre and his ONLF beasts of burden. That is until now. I remember how they were protected during the times of the late Emperor. The one that replaced him was preoccupied massacring the youth in the capital and other towns in the country. The next one had pitching one ethnic group against another. For the current one, elephants may not be part of his 'synchronicity' proforma. The latest news is this gift of The Good Lord is in grave danger. What depressing news

I don't think the majority of us disagree with the idea of the old country having its own outlet to the sea but not by violent means. Look at this way. The population of that country is reportedly around 135 million now and is expected to almost double by the year 2050 to close 250 million. That is a mere 25 years from now. Such huge size people can not continue to be suffocated for lack of an outlet to the sea. That would not be a privilege but a right. That is more than 250 million people. Again, a peaceful and lasting win-win diplomatic solution must be sorted out.
This is just my 2 cents worth of an opinion. So take it easy bigots and connivers!!!
