They hate those groups that are organized and armed to compete with them for power and economic resources sharing such as Tigrey and Oromo. These are most closest to them as well. They helped them to battle and defeat other Ethiopian groups with Europe supplied weapons.

They just do not have a good excuse to persecute Gurage that is neither organized or armed ethnically. It's a simple reason: for predation and literal cannibalism against people who have no protective guardian angel. Manifests itself in various ways. Not just perverse talk here.
