At the invitation of former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Patron of the AU Prayer Breakfast, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah attended the AU Pre-Summit Prayer Breakfast ahead of the official opening of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly.

Organised by the African Union Christian Fellowship, the gathering brought together Heads of State and Government, diplomats, church leaders, and partners in a spirit of prayer, unity, and reflection on Africa’s future.

The engagement highlighted the important role of faith communities in promoting ethical leadership, responsible stewardship of creation, and sustainable water governance, while reinforcing the continent’s shared commitment to the vision of “The Africa We Want.”

The prosperity gospel in Africa is a rapidly growing, influential form of Neo-Pentecostalism that equates faith with material wealth, physical health, and financial success. It merges Christian faith with indigenous, traditional desires for tangible blessings, often viewing pastors as powerful, miracle-working figures. While offering hope, critics argue it exploits the poor, ignores suffering, and promotes "gospreneurship".
