The Egyptian government is leveraging American influence to push its agenda: forcing Ethiopia to sign unacceptable terms regarding the use of Nile waters.Under these proposed conditions, during times of drought Ethiopia would be obliged to release water from the GERD so that Egypt can use it for electricity generation and agriculture. However, the proposal says nothing about water stored in the Aswan Dam.
These are unacceptable terms, and no leader with a sense of national dignity should agree to them.
