Eritrea Internet speed shows a huge improvement.

Post by Zmeselo » 27 Dec 2025, 15:36

(EP) - In 2024, Eritrea's average internet speed for fixed broadband connections reached approximately 126.49 Mbps, marking a remarkable increase from previous years.

This figure indicates an astounding improvement of over 2,000% from just 5.54 Mbps, in 2023.

While Eritrean Press could not independently verify this data, it noted exceptionally fast internet speeds at Adi Halo, home to government offices and project management institutions.

Discover the hidden treasures of Eritrea's ancient manuscript heritage!

PhD candidate Aklilu Amanuel Tecleab (University of Hamburg), is leading a vital work to preserve and digitize rare Geʿez manuscripts from Eritrean monastic libraries.

These parchment texts—richly illuminated and covering history, law, philosophy, astronomy, medicine, and more—represent centuries of intellectual tradition far beyond religious works.

His project focuses on collections from three key Southern Region monasteries:

• Debre Māryām
• Debre Dǝḫuḫān
• Debrame Māryām ʿAylā

Many remain uncatalogued and at risk—his efforts aim to safeguard them for future generations.

In Dec 2024, Aklilu published a six-part series

ጥንትውያን ጽሑፋት ኤርትራ
(Ancient Eritrean Manuscripts) in Haddas Eritrea, raising public awareness.

A remarkable blend of interdisciplinary scholarship, protecting Eritrea's written legacy!
