Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has crossed a line Brussels hoped no leader would cross — openly and publicly.
In a sweeping and explosive statement, Fico accused the European Union of suppressing free speech, manipulating elections, enforcing hypocrisy on energy policy, and dragging Europe into war without democratic consent.

“If the Russian Foreign Ministry paid activists in Slovakia to campaign for my party, I would already be sitting in prison.”
He confirmed that Slovakia has introduced a new criminal provision banning foreign state influence in parliamentary elections — calling it a serious and necessary defense of sovereignty.
Gas hypocrisy: “France buys Russian LNG — Slovakia is punished”
Fico went straight for one of the EU’s most sensitive lies.
He questioned the ban on Russian gas imports, asking:
“What kind of nonsense is it that Slovakia cannot buy Russian gas — while Russia is one of the largest LNG suppliers to countries like France?”
He announced that Slovakia, together with Hungary, will sue the European Commission over the gas ban, calling it an abuse of power passed deliberately through qualified majority voting to block veto rights.
This is an unprecedented escalation.
🧨 “After the war ends, Western hypocrisy will be unlimited”
Fico also delivered a brutal geopolitical prediction:
“The moment the war ends, every Western country will rush back — and you will see hypocrisy on a scale you have never seen before.”
He openly aligned himself with Donald Trump’s worldview, stating he fully agrees with Trump’s position — not because Trump is polite, but because he speaks in terms of power and reality, not ideology.
Internal EU collapse and political chaos
Fico described the EU political system as deeply dysfunctional, with fragmented coalitions, endless internal conflicts, and leaders consumed by managing crises instead of governing.
“You cannot have five or six parties forced together to govern forever. It creates chaos, paralysis, and instability.”
Final warning: “Facts don’t disappear because you ban them”
He ended with a sentence that should worry Brussels more than any protest:
“Facts do not stop existing because they are forbidden to be spoken.
