Anfillo now known as "Mao" tribe number 45,000 and are the final indigenous Omotic remnant group in Welega. Currently Mao-Komo Special Zone is their last safe-zone but even there the largest tribe is Oromo (35%) meaning Oromo have already began migrating into the final lands. TPLF gave most of Mao ethnic lands to the Oromo
I could not even find 1 picture of one Mao tribe member online how heartbreaking!Somi Ambeyu is an old Mao man from Kokeb. The village is located about 15 km northwest of Tongo at 1230m altitudes, halfway down to the lowlands towards the border of South Sudan. When he was asked for the difference between Mao and Gwama in Kokeb, he recounted:
I was born in Tenze [Begi Woreda, Oromia] and came down here during the time of Haile Selassie and married here. There was only one single [Mao] person when I came down here [...] there were only Komo people living here. Now there are Mao, Komo and Gwama speakers here; the Mao speakers understand the Gwama language. There is a lot of Oromo now and our people start to speak Oromo.

No doubt Oromo are expanding in land acquision.
1. They are influencial in Ethiopian politics and military...they fought for Menelick, Haile Sellasie and TPLF....NOW they replaced TPLF. If OLF was stronger than TPLF, they would have ruled Ethiopia after DERG.
2. Oromo has armed groups such as OLF. Non-Oromo unarmed civil societies fear for their lives, properties such as cattle and house, therefore avoid to fight when Oromo takes the land.
Somalis have armed groups; they fight them. Sodo Gurage don't have armed group, Shene does anything it wants.
3. In some places such Gambella, the DERG settled many Oromos from draught affected areas of east including Amaras from Wello and Tigreys.
If you are unarmed, therefore weak to protect your life, you cannot protect your land. You choose to live, you lose your lands. They fear terrorists to ask fir justice from the federal gov. And feds ard stupid themselves.
In this self-defence enterprise, the small Anyuak tribe numbering not more than 50,000 are doing a goid job.
