You know I hate that building. I wish MoE got some better modern building and that building was removed. For some reason, I hate the architecture, and it is old.

Well, the country is "blessed" with a colonel who all the time enjoys war and conflict. We were told he said, 2/3 of Ethiopians are nonproductive and should be spent on something useful including for fighting. So, the youth failed schooling means good news for PP It won't worry to hire them with no degree (jobs are not available even with degrees as we were told) and more youth to recruit for war to deal with the "lice"

The building doesn’t bother me as far as I am concerned. What I hate is the content & exterior alterations:

Let me explain;

- Installing the tribalist cadres, Genet Gudit & Biramtu Nega right in front of the historic Meyazia 27 Square is disgraceful & incompatible with the heritage.
- The building was designed with the intent that it embraces & complement the square while it remains open & accessible to the public. Cursed Derg, Woyane & PP came in & fenced and closed it off from the public, making the building feel like an urban-center jail.
- Idiotic PP cadres painted the exterior with a bright blue color, reducing the original monumental elegance to a children’s book illustration.

I wish MoE got some better modern building

What kind of modern building? People gives it all kinds of names because of how it looks. A tall building doesn’t fit there. Remember a historical monument is right in front of it. So historical that foreign leaders and dignitaries lay flowers there. The height and the architectural design is deliberate. It is a structurally sound building, maybe it may need a facelift. What they need to do is work on the buildings where Jolie bar is and the entire raw corridor beside it. The Northern side and the campus around it is Ok.
Ethiopian architectures and engineers of the past has an excellent reputation. Some of them have left Ethiopia during the Derg era and flourished elsewhere in Africa.
I don’t think the current generation is capable of doing a fraction of what they have done.
Education is dead in Ethiopia.

Some of the old buildings in Ethiopia are structurally sound and beautiful. I am not sure if it was entirely done by Ethiopian architectures. The one that impressed me the most was the ministry of justice building.
I don’t like the so called modern tall and glassy buildings.
A human mind is very fascinating. Visit Rome and you will be impressed by buildings that are old for over 200 years and still they are solid.

It may have been well designed and beautiful at its time. That is why it is still standing strong. It may be historical. However aesthetically it is no more appealing for the current age in my openion. I have been inside and I don’t like it personally. I don’t like it the way maintained. As it is a gov structure it is not maintained well. I also associate it with bad people the likes of Genet etc and I don’t like it. Also it does not fit the era. The same for ብሄራዊ theater. Both structures need to be preserved for historical reasons may be as kind of museum (education in Ethiopia museum and theater in Ethiopia museum) and build new state of the art buildings for MoE and National theater when the country is at peace with itself from this forum to the whole nation.
