Addis Abeba β The Tigray Peopleβs Liberation Front (TPLF) has urged the Ethiopian federal government to β
refrainβ from actions it says violate the Pretoria Agreement and risk sparking another round of war, while calling on the African Union to urgently convene parties to the deal as tensions escalate.
In a statement issued at the conclusion of its regular Central Committee meeting held from November 17β22, the party accused the federal government of organizing and arming armed groups in and around Tigray, moves it said constitute direct violations of the peace accord. The Central Committee warned that these activities including recent drone attack undermine the fragile post-war stability and could lead to renewed conflict if not halted immediately.

that Ethiopian government is applying
economic pressure
on the region by withholding civil servant salaries, restricting fuel, and limiting access to basic commodities and transportation, saying these actions appear intended to
starve the people of Tigray and push them into revolt.
It urged the federal government to reverse the measures without delay.
On the humanitarian front, the party said the situation of displaced people remains β
very worryingβ and accused the government of failing to coordinate with the TPLF and the Tigray Interim Administration to ensure their safe return, as required under the peace deal. Instead, the statement said, authorities are allowing armed settlers to remain on lands it described as constitutionally recognized Tigrayan territory.
The TPLF called on the African Unionβs mediation team and countries involved in the Pretoria process to urgently convene and take steps to preserve the agreement, warning that it is
more at risk than ever before.
The statement further urged the international community to act swiftly to help lift what it described as the β
cloud of warβ gathering over the region.
Internally, the Central Committee discussed corruption and administrative malpractice, outlining plans for a community-based approach to address public concerns. It also set recovery priorities, including proper harvesting of this yearβs crops, restarting irrigation efforts, creating youth employment in urban areas, and intensifying coordination with security agencies to curb crime.

The Chairman made the remarks in an interview with Woyen,
the official channel of the party organ, where he also responded to recent comments by Prime Minister
Abiy Ahmed regarding the Pretoria Agreement and the legal status of the TPLF.
The mediators and we [the TPLF] want to meet and discuss the implementation of the agreement,
Debretsion said, explaining that the TPLF has submitted repeated requests, and that mediators have also urged for discussions.
However, he argued that
it is the Federal Government that has refused
to participate in talks in the presence of the mediators.
Debretsion also criticized the mediators for failing to exert adequate pressure, saying they have limited themselves to offering advice while insisting that the agreement be implemented. He noted that the U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa,
Mike Hammer, had previously pushed for implementation, but since Hammerβs departure and the absence of a successor,
a clear gap has been observed.
In relation to Pretoria accord addressing parliament earlier, Prime Minister Abiy said that some of the loudest demands for full implementation were coming from individuals
who were not part of the negotiation process.
