Oropia is the Oromo Vision of High Confidence!
By Fayyis Oromia*
In this framework, Oropia—the new name proposed for what was formerly called Ethiopia—is envisioned as a union built upon the implementation of five core principles, summarized by the FADOB-score:
F = Freedom from all systems of domination
A = Afaan Oromo as the primary language of the union
D = Democracy as the governing rule of the union
O = Oropia, rather than Ethiopia, as the official name of the union
B = Black-Red-White as the Cushitic flag of the union
Oropia—an Oromic-led geo-federation—represents the most promising and forward-looking alternative, the option for which Oromo nationalists with the high political confidence of Haile Fida continue to struggle.
Ethiopia, as Amapia (an Amharic-dominated geo-federation), is already politically defunct. As Amarpia (an Amharic-dominated ethnic federation), it is lingering on its deathbed. The transition of Ethiopia toward Confepia (an English-using confederation), Orompia (an Oromic-led ethnic federation), or Oropia is already underway.
Among these three post-freedom sovereignty possibilities:
Oromia within Confepia represents a goal of low confidence,
Orompia represents a goal of intermediate confidence, and
Oropia represents a vision of high confidence.
May Waqa help us achieve the most beneficial vision of high confidence.
Galatoma!
