Mr. Deflator’s (Dr. Abiy’s) Next Job: To Deflate the Hyperinflated Ego of Shabiya!

By Fayyis Oromia*

I hope Dr. Abiy, the deflator of anti-Oromo egos, will move on to deflate the hyperinflated ego of Shabiya. This evil force believes it achieved victory over the Ethiopian Defense Forces on the battlefield, though in reality, the circumstances merely favored it — Ethiopia’s military was in disarray due to Mengistu’s foolish leadership and the cvnning manipulation of imperialists.

No Oromo nationalist will ever forget how the three highly inflated Habesha forces — the Neftegna, Shabiya, and Woyane — acted against the Oromo in the past. All three despised the OLF in particular and the Oromo in general, simply because they had the backing of banks and tanks to subjugate the Oromo. They mocked the Oromo, as if numbers meant nothing compared to their delusional sense of superiority.

Gradually, the Oromo fought back and achieved freedom from the Habeshas, even if not yet from the hybrids. Oromo nationalists with the OLF’s spirit of bilisumma (freedom) are now advancing the struggle in three directions: as rebels (OLA), as opposition (OFC), and within the regime (OPP). Even Dr. Abiy, who initially betrayed the Oromo cause, now seems to be doing the bidding of the OLF. He has already deflated the inflated egos of the Neftegna and the Woyane — and will surely move on to deflate the still-hyperinflated ego of Shabiya, perhaps reclaiming Assab, if not all of Eritrea.

Recently, I came across an insightful interview with the articulate General Teshome Gemechu. He raised important legal points, arguing that the Red Sea port of Assab still rightfully belongs to Ethiopia, since the transitional government at the time — the Woyane regime — lacked the legal mandate to legitimize Eritrea’s independence.

However, what General Teshome failed to acknowledge is that not only Assab, but the entire territory of Eritrea was given away through the same illegitimate process. If we accept his logic, then all of Eritrea was ceded unlawfully by a regime without constitutional or democratic authority to do so.

In that context, it would not be far-fetched — legally or historically — for Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed to claim the reintegration of not just Assab, but all of Eritrea. After all, millions of Oromo soldiers and countless generals from Oromia paid the ultimate price during the war in Eritrea. Reclaiming Eritrea could thus align with the long-term national interest of the Oromo people.

And who is to say that cities bearing Oromo-rooted names — such as Asmara and Barentu — do not rightfully belong to Oromia?

It is also encouraging to see that the Fox (Woyane) and the Hyena (Neftegna) are both gravely injured. Now appears to be the right time to confront the Wolf (Shabiya). Recently, I have heard that these three historical enemies of the Oromo — and of the OLF, the Lion — are trying to cooperate against Dr. Abiy and his administration. Yet under the pretext of opposing Abiy, their real intention is to reconquer Oromia and reoccupy Finfinne.

Even though Dr. Abiy is not entirely loyal to the Oromo cause, when it comes to the three beasts — the Hyena (Neftegna), the Fox (Woyane), and the Wolf (Shabiya) — I believe the entire Oromo people, and all oppressed nations, should support him to prevent these forces from regaining Finfinne.

The neo-Neftegna are now bragging about a supposed victory over the OLF, similar to what they claim against the TPLF. They frame their current struggle against the OLF — and the Oromo people at large — as a continuation of their war against the so-called “16th-century Galla migration” and the rise of Oromummà. In doing so, they declare war on the entire Oromo nation, not just the ruling party. This is like a Hyena foolishly declaring war on a Lion — and being bitten mercilessly in return. The Hyena has no chance this time. Farewell to the poor Hyena that provoked the Lion; the next target is the Wolf.

I hope Dr. Abiy will soon conclude negotiations with the OLA and establish a transitional government in Oromia, allowing OPP to share power with OLA, OFC, and the OLF. That would give him a stable base to confront Shabiya, which currently supports the extremist Neftegna.

One thing is clear: the OLF — the wounded Lion — has already defeated the Fox and the Hyena and now watches the Wolf closely. The OLF’s strategy in three directions — armed (OLA), political opposition (OFC), and infiltration (OPP) — is working. I have always advocated that the OLF pursue the infiltration path through Biltsigina, rather than limiting itself to rebellion or opposition. Genuine Oromo nationalists, driven by the OLF spirit of bilisumma, seem to be influencing Biltsigina from within, advancing the Oromo cause and undermining the three [ deleted ] Abyssinian forces: Neftegna, Shabiya, and Woyane.

The OLF, working through Biltsigina, appears to be eliminating these oppressive forces one by one. A new, inclusive Cushitic Ethiopia — with Oromic and Agawigna as federal languages and access to the Red Sea — is coming into view. A Horn of Africa led by Oromia is a real and attainable future. If Dr. Abiy is committed to realizing this modern Oromo vision, genuine Oromo nationalists will welcome him. The time has come to return the Assab coast to its rightful owners — the Afar people — and to ensure their autonomy in the future federal system of the Horn. Once the three beasts are gone, the peoples of the region — especially the Amhara, Tigray, and Oromo — can finally coexist in peace and mutual respect.

Reflections on Ethiopia’s Revolutions and Elites

What a tragedy for the peoples of Ethiopia! We have paid dearly during three major revolutions — 1974, 1991, and 2018 — yet each was hijacked by dictatorial elites from the Amhara, Tigray, and Oromo groups respectively.
- 1974: Hijacked by the Amhara-dominated Derg.
- 1991: Exploited by the Tigrayan-led Woyane.
- 2018: Reversed by the Oromo-colored Biltsigina.

All three regimes have been authoritarian. During the Derg, Amhara elites ruled while Tigrayans and Oromos rebelled. Under Woyane, Tigrayans enjoyed privilege while others were marginalized. Today, Biltsigina elevates a narrow Oromo elite faction while alienating Amhara and Tigrayans. The common thread: fascism disguised as revolution.

To be fair, there were democratic Amharas who opposed the Derg, genuine Tigrayans who resisted Woyane, and now sincere Oromo nationalists fighting Biltsigina. Hopefully, the next revolution will establish a truly democratic system that respects the God-given rights of all nations and peoples in Ethiopia.

Why Did Democratic Leaders Become Dictators?

It is ironic that all three revolutionary leaders — Mengistu, Meles, and Abiy — began as reformers but ended as oppressors.
- Mengistu started as a well-intentioned officer in 1974.
- Meles had a clear vision in 1991.
- Abiy was hailed as a messiah in 2018.

Why did they all turn into fascists? Because they were infected by the “Neftegna virus,” disguised as Ethiopiawinet — which in practice meant Amaranet. This subtle yet powerful psychological manipulation ensnared them, making them instruments of Amhara dominance.

The process unfolded in five steps:
- Capturing the leader’s attention.
- Indoctrinating them with “Ethiopiawinet.”
- Romanticizing Amaranet under that banner.
- Enslaving their minds.
- Using them to advance the Neftegna agenda.
Thus, the three Ms — Mengistu, Meles, and Meshrefet (Abiy) — all began as democratic revolutionaries but ended as reactionary dictators.

On Oromo Unity and the Struggle Ahead

Dr. Meshrefet (Abiy Ahmed) has cracked down on the OLF, to the delight of Oromophobic Abyssinians. Historically, no northern force has defeated the Oromo — only internal betrayal has weakened us. The last three dictators — Mengistu Ayàna, Meles Gobena, and Abiy Ahmed — all Oromo by birth but Amhara by politics — used Oromo collaborators to subjugate their own people. The OLF resisted them all but was repeatedly undermined by internal betrayal.

Each of the three promised freedom, equality, and democracy — and each betrayed those promises.

Their shared enemy? The OLF and its call for bilisumma (freedom). To weaken the movement, they exploited ideological divisions within the Oromo struggle.

The Two Main Oromo Perspectives:
- Unity-Oriented: Views the Oromo as original Cushites, seeing many modern Ethiopians as assimilated descendants of Oromo ancestors. This group supports unity within a liberated, Oromo-led Ethiopia.
- Liberation-Oriented: Focuses on recent history — the 19th-century conquest of Oromia — and seeks full liberation before any voluntary regional union.
The Ambivalent Middle:

Pragmatic moderates who favor federalism with autonomy but not full independence. However, this position is losing traction as the liberation movement strengthens.

Habesha Historical Narratives as Tools of Control

Some warn that accepting the idea that “Abyssinians are Oromo in origin” undermines the liberation cause. Habesha elites weaponize this narrative to discourage separation, saying “we are one people.” Whether historically true or not, it serves to weaken Oromo self-determination.

My view: leave ancient history to historians. What matters is the present reality — the Oromo remain marginalized and oppressed. Our right to freedom does not depend on ancient lineage but on the people’s will, expressed through a referendum. Freedom first — history later.

What Is Oromummà, Really?

Oromummà is not merely about blood or language. It is about identification with the Oromo people, their culture, language (Oromic), and liberation struggle. Some biological Oromos have betrayed their people; true Oromos are those who embrace Oromummà and dedicate themselves to freedom.

Conclusion: Onward Toward Freedom

Regardless of which version of history one accepts, the goal remains the same: a free, sovereign Oromia — possibly within a future union of free nations in the Horn. The journey so far:
- The monarchy was dismantled — first step.
- Mengistu and the Derg fell — second.
- Woyane was overthrown — third.
- Now, confronting or co-opting Meshrefet/Abiy will be the fourth and final step.

As long as Dr. Abiy continues to undermine the three scavengers — the Hyena (Neftegna), the Wolf (Shabiya), and the Fox (Woyane) — Oromo nationalists can strategically support him. Let these three beasts destroy one another; they were never allies. Finally, reintegrating not only Assab but all of Eritrea into a future Oropia (Oromic-led Ethiopia) would be commendable.

May Wàqà help the Lion.

Galatôma.

Unfortunately, the Oromos have made a muck of things! Their reign is going to be short-lived. What follows is pure chaos! Even Oromia itself is going to face frightening disorder as various groups slug it out!
