Threatening neighbors is not diplomacy. Citing fictional law is not an argument or justice Ethiopia can dream about port, and it can dream about Asseb but it cannot have Asseb , it can use it. Like any landlocked countries in the world! As a landlocked country, Ethiopia has transit rights to ports under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), but it does not have sovereign rights to own or control ports in the territories of other nations.

Abiy loves the TPLF so much that he called in a foreign force to wipe them out
(EP) - Ethiopian expansionist leader, Lieutenant Colonel Abiy Ahmed, today attributed the decline in relations with Eritrea to developments following the Pretoria Agreement, which he claims concluded the two-year war in northern Ethiopia.
he stated. We thought that after Pretoria, things would change,
Abiy added,But the Eritreans took the position that as long as the TPLF and Tigray were not fully destroyed, lasting peace could not be achieved.
Ha ha!These are, after all, our own people. We refused to accept the idea of destroying them; we stood firm.
Eritrea's fallout with Abiy began in early 2021, just eight months after the first Tigray war ended.
A Brief History:
- On November 4, 2020, the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) launched attacks on the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) Northern Command headquarters in Mekelle and various bases in the Tigray Region, marking the start of the Tigray War.
- The Northern Ethiopian Army was destroyed, with surviving soldiers crossing into Eritrea to escape.
- On November 14, 2020, the TPLF fired five rockets at Eritrea's capital from Tigray, with at least two hitting Asmara airport. The USA condemned the attack. But the rockets kept coming.
- Abiy invited Eritrea to assist in destroying the TPLF, which Asmara accepted without hesitation, completing the task in 17 days before withdrawing.
- Abiy denied Eritrean involvement for months but later acknowledged that without their help, he would be in a dire situation.
- His army generals praised the Eritrean leadership and tactics in defeating the TPLF, with some even stating on TV that they were inferior to the Eritrean generals and referred to them as “our bosses.”
- In May 2021, Abiy designated the TPLF as a terrorist group, along with the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF-Shene).
- By June 2021, Asmara was angered by the fact that Abiy’s large army was easily defeated months later by the resurgent TPLF militias, leaving behind heavy weapons when they evacuated Tigray. Eritrea refused to assist Abiy again. THAT WAS WHEN THE FALLOUT STARTED!
- The TPLF recaptured the entire Tigray region and advanced towards Addis Ababa with vengeance, prompting the Amhara militia (Fano) to step in and support Abiy’s government.
- Abiy sent senior army general Abebaw Tadesse to Asmara to plead with President Isaias and invite the Eritrean army once more to defeat the TPLF.
- Asmara agreed. In October 2022, the Eritrean army moved in and quickly recaptured major cities like Shire, Adwa, and Aksum in just a few weeks.
- The TPLF retreated from the “outskirts” of Addis Ababa to Mekelle to protect its regional capital.
- In November 2022, the second-largest city in Tigray, Adi Grat fell to the Eritrean-led forces, causing panic within the TPLF.
- Shortly after, the allied forces encircled Mekelle, leading the TPLF to agree to disarm.
- Days later in Pretoria, the ungrateful and deceitful Abiy informed TPLF representatives Getachew Reda and Tsadkan Gebretensae that he would target the Fano first and then Eritrea with their assistance.
- This planned cooperation was ultimately rejected by the TPLF leadership, despite Abiy removing them from the terrorist list in March 2023.
- Abiy then began attacking the Fano group, his former allies. The “wounded” TPLF refused to join Abiy’s aggression against the Amhara people and sought friendship with Asmara.
- The TPLF ousted Getachew & Tsadkan, Abiy’s puppet representatives in Tigray, and praised the Fano’s struggles.
- Left without allies, Abiy attempted to unite the Amhara & Tigrayan rebel forces by “declaring” war on Eritrea and planning to annex the Eritrean Red Sea port of Assab.
Fast forward to today’s statement from Abiy to his parliamentarians. Once again, he lied through his teeth. The fallout stems from Abiy being untrustworthy & a backstabber!
Just ask Lemma Megersa, the TPLF, & the Fano.
