I think the biggest failure of TPLF (and those who engage in self criticism like Semhal) is the avoidance to address the core belief that Ethiopia should be organized based on nation & nationality despite non existence of hom’ogeneity within Regions.
Meles’ idea (the current constitution) doesn’t solve the ‘nation & nationality’ question but only multiplies it from one question against the Federal government into many against Regional governments.
Semhal’s solution is to keep the same organization at the federal level but get rid of nation & nationality based organization at the Regional level. This doesn’t solve ‘nation & nationality’ question against Regional governments.

May be for a die hard Tigray nationalist, your reasoning sounds a revelation and Semhal a new generation if she sees the fault line of TPLF that is one step for change. This country needs as many new generation centrists and moderates. It would be interesting to hear your openion on administrative solution to the union, just to see if I am missing something.eden wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025, 09:36I think the biggest failure of TPLF (and those who engage in self criticism like Semhal) is the avoidance to address the core belief that Ethiopia should be organized based on nation & nationality despite non existence of hom’ogeneity within Regions.

Personally I believe in switzerland or USA states kind of democratic union where the politics is citizen based and democratic but regions (not formed by ethnic line) should have the right to self govern and manage their day to day agenda. They should be allowed to have their own security and policing but all military role given to the federal. All militias disbanded and constitution changed or amended. All ethnic politics disbanded.

I thought TPLF convinced themselves to be 1st class Ethiopians. I thought they believed Agew's Zagew Dynasty and Amara's Solomonic Dynasty thrived on their grave and wanted to clear the weed that grew on their dead body and come alive as the Renasaisance of the lost glory of Axum nearly 2000 years ago. To hear her say, tplf resists the imposition of Ethiopia on Tigrey is an oxymoron.

Semhal reached an age where she can rationalize based on hard facts at the ground. Her family from her mother side are something she can't ignore. She. Was able to hear their voice once the honeymoon of "Greater Tigray" ideology lost its space to the reality on the ground.
Those who lived far in Adwa, inderta and Agame will now have to start swallowing that Welkait is not Tigray as they were told and indoctrinated

May be, her mother side influenced to accept some bitter truth!
However, I still don’t believe tigrians, based on my real life experience.
They are not trustworthy even for friendship; specially those who gre up in Tigray. Never trust them and give a key to the union without control
It is the aramuma nationalists and the Tigray stone heads who walked us into this tribal filth politics.

Guys and Gals,
This issue does not concern me. But as a neighbor it breaks my heart. In my opinion, your main enemy is ethnic democracy. You are looking at it from Ethnic democracy perspective. Amhara and Tigray are not two separate countries. If this problem is too problematic, why not let the residents of welqait decide their fate on their own. They may want to be left alone all together. I know Welqait is very vital territory to Tigrayans. But, when the idiotic jerk in in Eritrea disappears, Tigrayans will have a direct access to the outside world. That is guaranteed. Eritreans do not have any issue with Tigrayans. The only enemy Tigrayans have on the Eritrean side is the Agame himself known as Isayas Afewerqi.

Absolutely correct. the toxic ideology need at least 70 years to disappear even after the dismantlement of TPLF as an organization.
It took the West and Russia 45 years to withdraw from Germany after the demise of Nazi. They made sure its system and ideology has no firtlile ground to ressuract.

Politics of DNA is Mitraq's new doctrine of abundant ignorance. Half-baked intellect like that of Meles. Politics of traces of blood, sperm and egg. A politics influenced by biological science. What else could influence Semhal's hindsight? Some Organic Chemistry? Only Mitraq the wizard of new political philosophy can elucidate how to understand Semhal.Misraq wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025, 12:11Semhal reached an age where she can rationalize based on hard facts at the ground. For a democracy to function properly, you need a relatively [deleted] society or, at the very least, a leadership that treats every citizen as equal. Does Ethiopia meet these criteria? In practice, individuals are often not hired or promoted based on merit or credentials but rather on ethnic affiliation, which fosters nepotism.
For example, in Kenya, the Kikuyu dominate politics, while the economy is largely controlled by people of Indian or European origin. This separation of political and economic power creates a degree of relative stability.
In Ethiopia’s case, however, one ethnic group currently dominates politics. The question then arises: who controls the economy? Since the state controls the lion’s share of the economy, the same group that holds political power also controls economic power. This concentration of power—especially when economic dominance is not the result of merit, hard work, or genuine business acumen—is unsustainable. It risks provoking resentment and revolt from other ethnic groups, who will inevitably demand a fairer share. And so, the vicious cycle of ethnic division continues.

Do you have any concrete study of how far Ethiopia’s de facto governance was during the various governments in the past from what you envision it to be in the future?Odie wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025, 10:58May be for a die hard Tigray nationalist, your reasoning sounds a revelation and Semhal a new generation if she sees the fault line of TPLF that is one step for change.
