U.S.A. Embassy in Addis Ababa praises dismissed Mamo Mihretu for ruining the Ethiopian Economy.

Post by sesame » 05 Sep 2025, 09:46

This is naked and un-apolegetic. It affirms that IMF and World Bank are tools of US imperialism
U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa thanks Governor Mamo for his service and vision and urges #Ethiopia to continue on the reform path he helped to pave. Governor Mamo’s bold leadership helped correct macroeconomic distortions that were holding back Ethiopia’s economy and its people. Change is never easy, and even less so in the face of significant challenges.

Mamo fulfilled his mandate to keep Ethiopia shackled by debt, devalue Birr's official exchange rate by 500% against the US dollar, and created an economic crisis driven by hyper-inflation, political instability, and civil wars. The man deserves the Nobel Peace Prize!

The embassy is endorsing this "miraculous transformation" of the economy and the leadership role of the "governor'. It speaks volumes why the U.S is silent about the bloodletting in the country. They are lending money to a country which prioritizes the production of mass murdering machinery while millions are going to bed empty belly every night.
