Liverpool FC have completed the transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

Isak joins the Premier League champions as their new No.9 on a long-term contract, which he signed on deadline day after successfully passing a medical.

Soon after finalising his move at the AXA Training Centre, the 25-year-old forward told Liverpoolfc.com:
I feel amazing.

It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.
Sweden striker Isak established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading attackers during his three seasons with Newcastle.

Having arrived from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, he scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the St. James’ Park club.

Isak netted 54 times in 86 Premier League outings for the Magpies, with 23 of those goals coming last season, when he finished second behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

He is now a teammate of Salah and has set his sights on winning trophies at Anfield.

Isak added:
I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well.

I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].

Isak began his career with AIK in his homeland before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

After a successful loan spell with Dutch side Willem II, he signed for Sociedad in the summer of 2019 and was the competition’s top scorer as they won the 2019-20 Copa del Rey.

To date, he has earned 52 caps for Sweden, scoring 16 goals.

Alex was presented by Liverpool and given the number nine shirt.

An hour later, his shirt was already sold out.

The shirt was clearly selling like hotcakes in the sunshine.

Due to huge demand, all ISAK 9 shirts are only available for pre-order. The shirts will be shipped on September 9,

Liverpool's Isak 'forever grateful' to Newcastle

Alexander Isak said it had "been an honour" to play for Newcastle as he thanked the club's supporters in a farewell message following his move to Liverpool.

The Sweden striker joined the Merseyside club https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/arti ... y4my21lz7o on deadline day on Monday for a British record transfer fee of £125m after a drawn out transfer saga.

Isak scored in Newcastle's 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in March as the club won their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

However, in the summer he said he wanted to leave the Magpies and has not played for them this season.

Newcastle issued a terse 37-word statement on their website to announce that Isak had made the move to Anfield, but the 25-year-old offered a more heartfelt reflection on his time on Tyneside.
I want to express my gratitude to my team-mates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together,
Isak said in a post on his Instagram account, external.
Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs.

It has been an honour to be part of the journey, from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years. Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.
How the Isak move developed

Isak joined Newcastle in a £60m move from La Liga side Real Sociedad in 2022 and scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.

He helped the Magpies win the Carabao Cup in March and they went on to qualify for the Champions League by finishing fifth in the Premier League.

Earlier this summer, Isak was left out of the Magpies' squad for their pre-season tour of Asia with what the club described as a "minor thigh injury", while it was understood he wanted to explore a move away.

He then trained alone at his former club Sociedad before Liverpool's initial bid for him was knocked back by Newcastle.

Amid continued speculation about his future, Isak released a statement in which he said promises had been "broken" by Newcastle and that their
relationship can't continue.
Newcastle said
no commitment had ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.
However, a move has now happened after Isak remained on the sidelines and missed their opening three league games, which included a 3-2 defeat by Liverpool at St James' Park.
