This Eritrean–Italian investor was a shareholder in the Intercontinental Hotel in Asmara, the owner of Gurgusum Hotel in Massawa, the owner of the Red Sea Cycling Team, and a benefactor to his ancestral village, where he provided fresh water and purchased buses for public transportation.
The hotel’s managers of intercontinental were of Indian origin, and the staff received training both in Eritrea and abroad to improve their skills. The hotel met all the criteria required to carry the Intercontinental Hotel brand, and staff salaries were high by Eritrean standards.
