Many people including Tegadalay Yemane Jamaica Mesel and General Tsadqan had said that Issaias Afeworki has a lot of admiration to Ras Alula Abanega. Could the reason be because his great grandfather Ras Hagos had also served and participated in many wars along Ras Alula? Ato Weldeab Weldemariam, the father of Eritrean nationalism, had also a lot of respect to the historical Ras Alula and named his elder son -- Alula.
Axumzana may post the youtube link where Tsadqan remembers the story where the Tigrayans had an argument in an Asmara restaurant with an Eritrean General Haile China, and Issaias scolding to the historical ignorance of General China.
Here is Professor Erlich Hagai on Ras Alula and the region

Zmeselo is very proud of Issaias Afwerki, because according to one Eritrean --
"... the best event that had happened in Eritrea, since Ras Alula who was the last Habesha governor in Eritrea, is a Tigrayan from Tembien royal house, the great son of Ras Hagos, by the name President Issaias Afworki, a master leader and politician for the last 60 years in Eritrean politics.
Plus, the spiritual leader of Eritrean nationalism is also ato Weldeab Weldemeriam from Axum and Shire."

The only leader you had who was moderately capable, is half Eritrean Meles. Eritreans put him in 4 kilo, hence you've to be proud of us.
Kassa M'rcha, was severed in two and his head is in a museum in Sudan.
What's "royalty", amongst constantly starving people.
It's thuggery, pure & simple.
