The short term goal of the 1874 to 1876 Ethiopia -Egypt war was to annex the present day Eritrea!

Once Egypt secures a foot hold in Ethiopia that was to be used as spring board to colonize Ethiopia with the objective of controlling the source of the blue Nile .
