From the role played in the aftermath of World War II to the Cold War alignments and beyond, the U.S. is not a stranger to Eritrea's complex journey toward independence, peace, and self-reliance.
Regrettably, certain individuals in previous U.S. administrations, driven by ideological biases, geopolitical calculations (to appease successive Ethiopian regimes) have abused their positions of power. They have distorted facts, suppressed Eritrea's perspectives, and manipulated institutions, including the UN, to impose unfair sanctions (2009 and 2011), isolate the country diplomatically, and tarnish its image on the world stage- especially through the @UN_HRC, as we have witnessed in the last 13 years.
These actions were not grounded in truth or legality, but in narrative engineering. Resolutions and reports, drafted far from the realities on the ground, have often ignored Eritrea’s context, resilience, and genuine efforts at national development. Meanwhile, politically motivated actors, including select diaspora groups and NGOs, most funded by the @NEDemocracy, have actively collaborated in perpetuating a distorted and externally engineered narrative against Eritrea.
