Ethiopias absurd request to Djibouti

Post by Zack » 16 Jun 2025, 09:38

Give us a free sea port a portion of the land and Military base.

The Tadjoura port, constructed at a cost of $60 million and inaugurated in 2017, provides access to the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, key maritime trade routes. Ethiopia has been utilizing the port for the past four years, primarily for exporting minerals such as potash, coal, and iron ore from the Afar region, we offered them tadjoura but they said they want to legally own the port which is absurd. we said Ethiopia manage co manage it , Djibouti will reduce the income tax gradually as Ethiopia also gives Djibouti some incentives such as fertile land lease . this was Djibouti proposal, Ethiopia would get a huge discount. for security reasons we cannot have a military or a naval base from another country to host them. had you been located in japan or some where near the south china sea. then we could talk , but as it stands now.

But few weeks ago Ethiopia just said give us the entire port and make us the new owners of the port and give us a navy base.

which is strange

Ethiopia needs to demand free Port and Buy Port Tadjurah as quick as possible

Ethiopia has been paying Djbouti $2B yearly so why not just Buy Port Tadjourah. Port Tadjourah will become an Ethiopian Naval Port and Trading Port Base.

Ethiopia should take Tadjourah and make Eritrea-Tigray Irrelevant to Ethiopian Affairs
