The relationship of the USA and the Arab Emirates is deepening with the UAE writing more than a trillion dollar check to Donald Trump. This will give UAE and Ethiopia to bomb any place in the Horn of Africa, as they are doing in Port Sudan, Kessela and Khartoum.
One can assume, Abiy Ahmed can bomb anywhere in Eritrea and Zoomalia, in the name of fighting terrorism or to defend his occupied land in Sudan or Eritrea.

Very good question. I have been thinking along the same line. Abiy has a golden opportunity there. But, there is major constraint which he may not be able to overcome; that is, his close relationship with China, Russia & BRICS.

Trump is a bully with very little regard for Africa or black people. If he has any direct benefit for Ethiopia, he will demand Abiy's distance from China and Russia. Will Abiy do that? Only in one case; that is, if Trump offers Ethiopia a Sea coast on the Red Sea. If Trump offers a sea coast, Abiy will surely will do whatever Trump asks. Short of that, there will not be any spectacular relationship between US and Ethiopia. That said, US-UAE close relation is a God sent event for Abiy.
