It was not official but American, British and Israel soldiers fought on the side of EPLF and TPLF to ovrthrow the Mengistu governmet of the Ethiopian Socialist Democratic Republic.
The US and Europe had a great fear of the spread of socialism in Africa if it was well established in Ethiopia.
