I am not an expert in the field but I remember how Engineer Sileshi Bekele, former Minister of Water resources of Ethiopia, defended the GERD in front of the UN SC saying "we don't intend to stop the flow of the river, the water will keep flowing after hitting the turbine that generates electricity", this is my recollection of his comment. I don't have an excerpt of the actual speech of the former Minister.Sharaqi, Professor of Geology and Water Resources at Cairo University, explained that the shutdown of the GERD’s turbines and the failure to commence the dam’s operation as planned will force Ethiopia to discharge approximately 20 billion cubic meters of the dam’s water in preparation for receiving rainwater in the new season.
If what Engineer Sileshi said has a truth in it, then how can the alleged malfunctioning of the turbines increase the flow of water volume? If this is not the case, then we should ask ourselves about if the professor has such a deficiency of logic, then how are the students thinking over there?
That education system must be worse than the one designed by Meles Zenawi's government in Ethiopia.
