I can afford it. Millions of Americans will stop drinking Ethiopian coffee not because they cant afford it but because importers will not bother to import it. It is not an essential commodity. CAN wedi beshasha afford to lose 50% of his coffee income from the USA. Add to that the $1.8 billion he has list from USAID. We shall see how Trumps new tarriffs will trash the birr. Expect it to go down to 209 birr for one dollar. Do you think starving Ethiopians will invade the red sea for the fish!.

I can assure you now that as somebody living in America you should be prepared to pay 10% more to enjoy Ethiopian coffee in front of your pc for the future. Are prepared to give up on coffee?

No one can be below the baseline, unless you are a dead man walking like the man to the north of Ethiopia. He is below the base line!

tarik, Trump imposed a 10 % tariff on Heard and Macdonald islands. Only birds, seals and penguins live there, but zero tariff on your paradise Eritrea. It is not fair.

tarik, cool down. “beggar Ethiopia” will be fine, so does “prosperous Eritrea.” The tariffs are a misguided adventure. Trump and the MAGA crowd desire to turn the clock back : a time when US has been the only significant economic superpower in the world. They believe “globalization” has killed that dream. Wrong.
The world economic system has changed, and will continue to be. A new economic superpower has emerged— China.
Rather than telling the MAGA crowd US has been ripped off by the whole world, which is false, it is better to tell the hard truth. In the world of today economic competition is becoming severe, and US might not have the advantage it used to have. Americans should welcome the new reality.
Probably this the tariffs theatre has been designed to divert attention from real issues Americans are worrying about. I don’t think it is working.

leave this hopeless creatures alone, you can never change them. If they were to change, then Abiy Ahmed could have changed them. He brought them in from the cold outside and tried to integrate them into the civilized world, before they turned on him and declared him their sworn enemy no. 1. Ungrateful creatures.

On the more serious note Abiy Amhed said once something like the world is at a cross road, it finds itself in a fierce competition, there are many confrontations between the major powers of the world. No one knows how this stand-off may end one day, who may going to take the upper hand at the end of the fierce competition. He advised his nation's citizens to just focus on the internal issues and ensure the their future to come out victorious at the end. Focus on our internal issues, was his main message, as I can remember the content of his speech, before few years, I think.

I am not sure if the anticipated end is near or here, but I can tell with 100% certainty Ethiopia is in a much better shape today than when he conveyed this message. This better shape has made itself much visible in this new American tariff announcement, which some observers called would going to change the global order fundamentally. Ethiopia is poised to benefit from this, nothing to fear. As a nation we are much better positioned to make a gain.

They are less than the "beggar" but still dare to call us the name, simply they are stone head creatures.
